Here’s a great picture from the excellent WJ Riding thread. Robert

Actually I post my stuff on this thread, the other is dealing with drivers of the Newport-facility.

In charge for Netherlands-facility (Rozenburg-Botlek/Rotterdam) was Mr. J. Q. Peet

PRE-REEFER-ERA…I strongly doubt on the benefits towards genuine reefers in 1985, mind labour costs
to install ‘everything’ into a 40’ container for shortsea-purposes…attached some depliants

insulation-foil was delivered by Dutch company MI = Meeuwissen Industries

Dry bulk was also an activity…but a regular one■■?

Remember the 40ft boxes coming from Ireland insulated the same way for cheese.

Impressive details, A-J  . Here’s a nice old ERF with a Bell container to suit the weather this week! Robert

Wow…X-mas away and ERF brings a winterload!

In Holland Bell Lines applied services from:

Gebr. De Wilde from Monster

Van Rumpt from Stad a/d Haringvliet

Hegeman from Huissen

and probably others

Bell Lines Netherlands (Rozenburg-Botlek) handled:

1979 103.000 TEU
1980 115.000 TEU
1981 140.000 TEU

To do this Bell Lines had two cranes, a Stothert & Pitt for 25tonnes and a Paceco for 32tonnes

Annexe some pictures out of a hand-out for visitors, sorry for the quality

Bell Lines’ ships had names beginning with a R:

Racer
Raider
Ranger
Rebel
Reliant
Renown
Resolve
Rover
Ruler

Just a side step and detail

According to “Containerisation International” Yearbook 1985 Bell Lines had the folowing scheme:

-Bellport (Newport, Gwent) to Waterport with three sailings weekly
-Teesport to Rotterdam (Rozenburg-Botlek) with four sailings weekly
-Waterford to Rotterdam with five sailings weekly
-Bellport to Rotterdam with two sailings weekly
-Waterford to Radicatel with two sailings weekly
-London to Rotterdam with two sailings weekly
-Teesport to Radicatel with one/two sailings weekly

oh-ho! You mentioned Van Rumpt, so we’d better have a nice picture of a Dutch B-series ERF with a Bell box on its trailer! Robert
