Looking for 7.5t work

Hi,guys Newbie sorry for asking.

As it says above,i am moving from the Highlands,Scotland to Mansfield Notts, looking to get work in 7.5t in mid April onwards.I am not too bothered if it is agency or a firm and I have talked to one agency they said that there is a bit of work.Any help is much appreciated.

I have had a Class 2 training but because I don’t know the area well(Mansfield),I was a bit nervous driving it around town.At the end the trainer said that I would be better running around a 7.5t van to drive a bit more relaxed. We both agreed and as the week went on,I felt that this would be a better option.

I want to have another go in Sept onwards for Class 2 (c) and feel that with the experience running on 7.5t will be beneficial.I am using C1 on grandfather rights and have also have CPC card and DQC card as well.

I will be 47 in April and don’t mind what I do as all experience is good experience.I would also like to say that I was offered the test but felt myself that getting a bit more experience under my belt would be beneficial.

+1!

Taylor’s do 7.5t work and will set anyone on, the wages are shocking though!

Jewsons are always advertising on here.

There’s quite a few companies although not too sure how many do 7.5T vs class C. Musson’s for example in Ollerton (pretty close to Mansfield) I’m pretty sure run 7.5T and you might want to look for courier type companies too, ideally smaller local ones. When I started looking, I just asked Google for transport companies mansfield and similar searches and it tends to list a lot of them. Admittedly, still actually trying to find that all illusive class C or 7.5T job.

Taylors I’ve heard will take people on, although it was described to me as a “baptism of fire” and “how on earth they keep an O licence is beyond me”, so not totally sure how to read that. I’ve also met their driver training bloke and as nice to talk to as he was, he didn’t exactly present as “professional” should we say.

As for Mansfield itself - don’t worry, I’ve been in the area for years and I still get completely lost! Everyone expects you to be in the wrong lane, looking baffled and generally driving at 20mph trying to figure out the traffic system. Just with a truck, they tend not to argue as much.

Finally - I’ll swap this area for the Highlands anyday. Love Glencoe, Fort William and Kinlochleven!

You suverners can stay where you are, enough bloody immigrants up here as it is !

As well as transport firms plenty of other businesses run 7.5t vans such as office/paper supply firms, snacks/soft drinks companies, furniture shops, builders merchants/trade suppliers (as already mentioned), food companies, cash & carrys. Just a thought anyway, good luck.
