O’Leary’s website asks for a full, clean EC licence. Correct me if I’m wrong(again)-but don’t points in one member state also count in all the others?

this gets even more confusing, you say you got your points in “england” which is the UK but not affected your NI licence which is also UK

I’m with you there James.NI is still in the EC,and also part of the UK-so the rules are the same as in any other EC country. We may well be missing something here, after all,if irishtrucker85’s NI is clean, then that’s what it is.

if u get caught in france do your points go on to ur licence and if they do ill bet you swansea wont have clue about them same as me i got them in englane an ni say that ive got a licence with 6 points where i got them in ni thats all

i never got points on my licence in france or any country for speeding or anything that is not in place yet and i dought very much if it ever will be its not legal to do it

Please let me enlighten you as regards Germany , you will get a account at the German
DVLC in Flensburg and a t a certain point they will write and tell you that your are
BANNED;from driving in Germany for a set period which is not months but in years, also
the points can be accumulated, by speeding, over loading ,insecure load, etc etc.
Other country s just as strict try Italy, they will take your licence off you there on the spot,
sorry you are not up to date with European laws, by the way it is legal,

yes my friend i think ull find in italy thy will take licence off u but when u get a new one from home go back to italy and there will be nothing said about being banned plus they will take it only if ur stupid enuf to give it to them :stuck_out_tongue:

as for germany if ur banned from germany thats it ur not banned nowhere esle
like me i can drive all over europe just not in eng

an its not legal for an other country to put points on a uk licence just like the italians arent aloud to take ur licence but at the end of the day who is going to fight them ehh

the law changed i think in 2009 so points in one EC country are transferred to your licence, maybe you got 12 points in the UK and so far not been transferred so lucky you.
maybe you are right and all the euro police are wrong so keep on trucking and maybe you’ll find the dream job you want

been a irish man trucking with a southern irish licence (european licence) with no points irish trucker is right i cant get points on my licence if i commit an offence in the uk for some reason the technology is nt in place to do this yet but what you do get is a letter saying that when they can the points will go on your licence in the future
what is the time frame they can hold points like this i dont know but if i got done for speeding today in the uk i am sure that in two years time it couldnt be legal to apply them to my licence then but i could be wrong

I’m sure they have amended the rules so if you get done for a serious driving offence, i.e. drink driving or dangerous driving, in the U.K. or R.O.I. it will go on your licence regardless of which countries driving licence you have and they do communicate with each other now
As for minor offences eventually it will be the same policy as well, but it is not likely to be backdated as it would take years to clear the backlog

irish trucker if you have 12 points for speeding in the U.K. do you think you need to change your driving style? i.e. easy on the loud pedal

Not possible, Irish trucks are all fitted with a bomb that goes off if the speed drops below 50mph, like in that film.
