I don’t know what the pay is like, prospects aren’t all that great…but you get a uniform!
Was watching a programme on BBC world about this the other day. KBR which was a division of Haliburton supply drivers and trucks for Iraq. Training is in Texas. Problem is that they are just normal (old) trucks and the drivers are not armed. They come under attack on every run. There was a case study of one driver who went out there and a RPG was fired into his cab. Lost an arm an so much blood he has serious brain damage. Go on YouTube, there are videos drivers have made on there.
We have all heard stories of earning about £1000 a week but does anyone know HONESTLY how much a driver would earn working for the above company or any others?
Maybe when it all kicked off the money was good but I bet its dropped now!!
Even the guys doing CP work in Iraq are earning less now than when it all started…too many cowboys ruining the job!! (sounds familiar!!)

I have heard that the money aint all that anymore,due to them using Middle Eastern and Indian Drivers as they are a hell of a lot cheaper and expendable.
Think there was something posted about it in the last couple of weeks on here!!
If the money was still there I’d even be interested in going,although when it probably came down to it,I dont think i’d have the guts.Not being a fan of muslims either might be a bit of a drawback.

Honestpete, i have tried with KBR for the last 6 months and got no where i think they maybe keep most of it for there own guys, i’m not sure tho. I did pm a Brit guy from this forum and he gave me some help said there on roughly 50k tax free a year and the trucks are all armoured and the stuff on youtube was about 5 years old and its not like that anymore. He seems straight up. Go on kbr website and submit a cv if you fancy it. Good luck

kbr are hiring drivers.
we’ve just had 2 british lads turn up here in past couple of weeks.
yes they do employ pakistani, indian and other country drivers but they are on a lot less pay but they can’t go on convoys on there own for security issues.
yes all the vehicles are armoured and YES things do happen out here but thats why they pay what they do.
new contract starts at the end of next month and with legislation bush has passed in the states likely there will be less US expats coming out here as they have to pay social security and medicare.
honestpete if you want some more info i’ll speak to the lads that have just come in and find out which recruiter they used.
take what people say on here with a pinch of salt, a lot of armchairs experts who have’nt been anywhere near a job like this.
finally the youtube clip they keep mention is from early on in the contract and the eqpt and miltary escorts are 100% better since then.

there is a change happening out here for the new contract that starts at the end of next month. kbr won’t be the only company hiring drivers.
2 other companys are coming in itt systems & dyncorp intl.
I’ve applied to KBR on three occasions. They’ve not bothered to reply.
So any contact names there would be appreciated.
my m8 works for them , he in afghan at the mo .
they do work on behalf off KBR but brit based firm tho .
