On another note, who remembers the flag days? A big string of them across the top of the screen and lots more stuck down the sides of the screen. :
Yeah ! My first job as a driver, 7.5ton Bedford TL, thought I was the king and with a larger window than the iconic TK, you could fit more flags in
When i got my first F10 i was 21 yrs old and worked for Jack Richards (C23 AVG) i too thought it the danglies and first thing that went on the screenâŚa suction cup âVolvo Truckerâ banner⌠. âŚ
I vaguely remember some F10âs at Richards, IIRC, werenât they white, and came from the United closures contract in Norwich, or am I getting confused
My first Artic job was with an F10, and I too was 21 at the time, I think it was BVG 585 T, it was T reg any way. Had the splitter switch on the dash board, I thought this so cool .

Youre quite correct, C21, C22 and C23 AVG plus the F7, BNV 100X were all white and were bought by Richards in 1987. I was desperate to get out of the job i was in at the time driving for Fitzmaurice carriers of Norwich and heard Richards were looking for drivers. Went for an interview and spoke with Anthony Richards before going out for a test drive in the biggest pile of crap they had in the yard, an ERF with 265 Rolls Eagle. On return i was asked if they took me on would i be prepared to drive that particular truck to which i said yes. Two days later i get a call telling me i had the job and to come and get the keys to one of the F10âs!! I was the youngest driver there and very few drivers spoke to me for a while. If i ever parked up with one of them i always kept the night heater off (none of the ERFâs had them)âŚdidnt want to make matters worseâŚ

yep best not upset the apple cart any more than you had I sent in an application to Richards a year later(1988), but got no reply still it left Me available to do cut my teeth on Sugar Beet that winter, then more harvest work the following year Have only driven artics since
Seeing as this has diverted away a bit from the Long Bonnet, thought Iâd bang a couple of pics in of the Scania Tipper round here todayâŚand I do like burnley-siâs one heâs getting!
GB pub, thats one tidy motor, it looks clean, smart, modern, unlike some of the â â â â we see on the roadsâŚwell done to youâŚsadly, i am not a great fan of scanias, or too much bling, but that fits the part well, if your considering offering me a job, can you bling up a DAF instead and i`ll consider it.

truckyboy, do you honestly think there is any need for all those stupid looking spotlights? They arenât necessary on modern trucks, and are obviously only there to compensate for SWSâŚI wouldnât be at all surprised if he had poncy frilly curtains and wears an ear ring!

Funny aint it, how we all have are different preferences, Iâd love that 4 series, couldnât understand why Scania moved the bed from over the screen to the back wall on the R series topline, but Iâm not keen on too many lights, and even less keen on a DAF in any form.
did i offer , its not all about the money, i started at 930 pm finished at 4am hardest thing i did was open my rear doors and reversed onto the loading bay and thats it till tuesday 1230pm, my other driver will be finished for 7am thats it till tuesday, very very rare if i have the trucks running after 10am on a friday, and normal dont start back until 12pm on a monday (unless its a back holiday)

Hope I wasnât the only one on here that was on the M62 near Warrington this morning at about 6.30am to see a stunning black Scania 143t heading west?
Really stood out, made my day and sent me back to my childhood!!!
And nobody fancies the new shape Scania Prototype I pictured? Pfft! Apparently worth slightly more than your average T-cab and so Iâve heard, itâs a one off.
