reefer, unfortunately I know nothing about Longs of Wyndham, but can say that the JCB job used to be good.Straps on in Rocester-go for a shower, then enjoy the next 3 or 4 days.Make sure they don’t use tilts though Ask what return loads they have, because some of them Spanish groupage places do really take the P sometimes .Sorry I couldn’t be more help mate. Good luck

Allegedly Mr Long visits these forums too and keeps an eye on the content…
Hello this is my first post.
I worked for Richard long three or four years ago on the ‘blue side’ ie European work and I must admit that I enjoyed it very much apart from going to the yard (‘the ear ache’ part of the job.)
All his motors were top of the range and he expected them to be looked after. Some of his rules I thought were a bit petty, but at the end of the day he does own them. I was told I would not last a week but did a wee bit longer than that. Am back at sea as master of a ship now but if I had the chance I would go back tomorrow but I doubt that will happen as Richard was none to pleased when I lost the two driving wheels of my unit while on the motorway just south of Rouen.
I dont know what the return work is like now but beware you may get roped ( excuse the pun) into a horse feed load back, hassle and more hassle, it was not all from Claas and the like.
In conclusion if any one is keen to get a foot in the door I would say go for it but keep quiet when going to the yard. The trailers were well full on the way home too.
A good percentage of drivers names ended in …ski. Its just the same at sea !
This is not a ‘brown nose’ type of reply, I speak as I find, ask my present employer !!
The fact that they get through a lot of drivers per year says a lot, the money i could live on but i’ve had better, the kit is good.
I told them my terms after listening to theirs, i wanted to be home at least every 3rd weekend too do the daddy bit.
I thought the attitude in the yard was ‘we own you don’t ask questions just do it’ was’nt Richard or Lorrane but the two under them that seemed to think that you should be ever so greatful you have a job with us so just get on with it.
6 Weeks i lasted at the begining of this year beefore i got the urge to flatten someone. I’m not gonna sit here & slag them off they do what they do & some of their drivers have been there for years i think it’s a job that if you fit in then you’ll get on…
I’d never recommend them but at the same time if you don’t try you’ ll never know…
QUOTE ‘‘don’t ask questions just do it’ was’nt Richard or Lorrane but the two under them’’
Wholeheartedly agree, but they got it in the neck if things didn’t go to well, one was a right arrogant git !!
