dozy:
By the way I am on £7 p.h,last week I earned 773.91.
Is there an overtime rate in there or did you do 110 hours?
No,it’s £7 p.h whether you do 1 hr or 15 hrs,but you do get a f/b and a meal allowance,bit more if you do w/ ends,bit more if you work between 18.00- 6.00.
But it states on pay slip £7.75 p.h,and I’m not the type to try dressing it up as £10/12 p.h,it is what it is,but I don’t think us on £7 p.h need to be slagged off as idiots, don’t need to be blamed for driving wages down, and to be blamed for every other woe affecting truck drivers, were making the best of what we’ve got,we don’t need every tom ,■■■■ and Harry getting on our case, thankyou.
Show a bit of class
On the point of liking my own truck,it’s not for any other reason than I’m sick and tired of hitting my head against a brick wall,I spend hours every week cleaning ,polishing the inside of truck ,only for some other driver to turn it within a shift back into a ■■■■ pit,the joys of shift driving and having to share trucks ,different one every day.
I’m not interested in spot lights, curtains etc( not that I’ve a issue with them), I’d just like to open the door in the morning and not to be met with Apple cores, half eaten sarnies, nuts lined up in binnacle, banana skins ,stinking of sweat,■■■■,etc, etc.
Just raise my spirits a bit

I’m not on your case nor slagging anyone off, I was merely asking a question.
@dozy…you have quoted me as calling you an idiot for earning £7 p/h.If you read the thread from the beginning then you will see i was defending the likes of you.Thats why i put the word idiot in speech marks, so it defined how the other poster was saying idiot.

LeedsChris:
No im not one of these ‘idiots’ on £7 p/h.I am salaried, and going by my earnings since april and my average weekly hours, my rate is £10.50 p/h.
Too many drivers moan about pay and conditions, yet they are still doing the job.Either they are masochists or deep down they know that the job is a doddle compared to a real days graft.
Does anyone seriously refer to themselves as a “professional” driver. That would be so cringeworthy if i heard that term used in conversation.
I was earning my money 40 years ago tramping in a Gardner powered Atki.Bricks, concrete slabs, cow hides, all hand ball.
Anything loaded with a forkie crane was a bonus, and if you got a box van,you thought you’d won the lottery!
But I was as fit as a butchers dog.
Went onto middle east work for 12 years, now I’ve been retired 10 years and doing 2 night trunks a week with up to the minute trucks and good money,it’s a paying hobby.
You are right, one can hardly call ones self a professional driver with what is expected these days,I regard myself as “A wheel to wheel co ordinator”!
Oh alright then,a steering wheel attendant!
Some of the rates of pay on here are deplorable, you can’t blame drivers for voting with their feet.

Fair enough chris,I took it the wrong way,I apologize
philmots:
£7.20hr jeeeeeezzz I wouldn’t get out of bed for that.
I’m on twice that on nights. 9/10hr shifts.
So 10x 14.40 x 5 =£720 p.w,which is apx £50 less p.w than the driver driver paid peanuts/ buttons/ £7 p.h,and you working nights whilst he’s working days
rambo19:
Whenever we get called ‘upstairs’ by management, they always come out with;
“your a proffesional driver, you should of done this/that…”
My reply?
I’m not a proffesional driver, i’m just a bloke that drives for a living, lewis hamilton/jenson button are proffesional drivers, and get paid accordingly".
Precisely, I prefer the term ‘commercial driver’ rather than professional due to the reason outlined above… In the US I believe it’s called a CDL (commercial driver’s licence), far better than what we’re labeled here:-D

How is 10 x 14.40 x 5 less than 10 x 7.20 x 5■■?
It’s not just the final figure, it’s the hours worked to get that figure as well!

Correct… I do about 44/45 hours a week, on a bad week maybe 46/47! No pressure, no rush, and I love nights… Day drivers aren’t on much less.
edit… I’m salaried on 47.5 so I get that whatever I do.

So we will ignore the final figure then even though he has ended up earning £50 less than the £7 ph bloke has in a week and he’s had to work nights instead of days to get his £50 less
So it’s hours as well then ,so my pay slip quite clearly states £7.75 p.h
Today I ended up doing 6 hrs( 1 shop) ,but the nice t.o bod signed me up for 10.5 hrs
So that’s 10 hrs ( 10.5 hrs less 1/2 break) x 7.75 divided by 6=12.91 p.h ,now I see how all these drivers claim there on £10/12 p.h,they ignore what there pay slip says and divide what they earn per shift by how many hours they do.
Thanks for that ,I thought I was only on £7.75 p.h,but really I’m on £12.91 p.h .
Well chuffed with that
