Hi Pat thanks for those sounds! Just imagine what the ‘elf and safety’ brigade would make of that noise today, the driver would probably have to wear ear muffs as big as a quilt! I remember that just after I had started driving in 67 walking in the early morning to the car park where I kept my truck and hearing what sounded like someone screaming the guts out of a Mini Cooper. Then a Foden (pre-micky mouse cab, owned by Don Miles of Bridgwater & driven by Mike Goggins) passed the end of my road he had changed gear about 10 times and was still only doing about 10 MPH. What a noise!
Crews Transport from somewhere near Frome used to run some 2 stroke Fodens out of the quarries it was almost impossible to keep up with them as long as they didn’t get baulked.

Kerbut I think that was C B Morgan and weren’t they dark green in colour? I think they may well still be operating not sure though!

CB Morgan did Livestock and Fridges, they cut back to one Livestock truck on a pig contract a couple of years ago, as far as I know they still run the fridges

hi all thought i had better put something on here before we lose it

Well done gerbil
Nice to see it

Regards Pat

Hi Richard (Shiney boots) came in today asked me to post these, so here they are!!

I have already posted these on the Lamberts thread but they are Southampton based.

Regards Pat

Me again Rob Rymer came round to see me today and brought quite a few old pics and newspaper articles mainly lowloaders

Here is one it says under the pic Hovercraft escorted Lee on the Solent to Farnborough september 1959

There are a few more to come so watch this space

Regards Pat

The second photo down of Lamberts, the F88 290 and the Atki, to me, highlights the distance apart UK truck makers were compared to their European counterparts. The Volvo being barely one year younger than the shed its parked alongside. I know which I would prefer.

Ah Gazza, another Atki fan then …NOT.

In reply to gazzers cryptic remark about Atkis,I take exception to it.I drove my first Atkinson in 1959. Now look at me.Only one arm.Bad back.Piles.Deaf to name but a few.Didn’t do me any harm. :frowning: :frowning:
