A bloke from Romsey
A bloke nicknamed “Teddy Bear” whos name escapes me (on the right), Armstrongs Road Train driver.
In the middle…Armstrongs driver? But cant remember his name, Doh!
Fergie47: I was referring to F7’s not being photographed much, not Armstrongs.
There was a driver, tall blonde guy, lived in Lordshill who drove an F7 for them too.
Armstrong’s driver was Gerry, (but didn’t drive the road-train )
Realised you we’re talking about the F7,just thought I’d chuck in the F12 as well !

Hi Bev tribsa is quite correct the name of that company was Reema short for Reed and Mallik I think they made a loads of prefabricated house. Pat Scorey used to work there many years ago as did Terry Moody (my driver)'s dad and his brother Maury.
Later when they had a sort of industrial estate I had a big workshop there.

 Hi there pat, could you ask pat scory if he remembers a lad from salisbury call kenny selwood, had one of the first BERLIETS that they had, tell pat that he is still with us and last i heard was running selwood plant hire in oxford, he might remember him from his bottle dyed blond hair, left PBC to go and work for frence dairy farmers, running brittany for the cheese and butter, back to the uk.bev
Hi spoke to Pat and all he did was laugh and say ‘Trout Mouth’ Apparently the other Beriet was driven by a Benrie Thompson who had a brother Dennis they both now run the waste service in Cherbourg Docks.
Another name Taffy Phillips was another driver of one of the Berliets.

The jigsaw comes together…Gerrys F7 in the foto, Brian aka Teddy Bear with road train out of sight.
No he was driving an artic !
In May 1990 when I took it over ,Gerry had to retire early due to an injury connected with the tankwash in the yard, Brian became an o/d, Chris Cadby brought one of the FL7’s and transported the Buckfast Wine (still at it) Harry the Hat retired,Robbie Jay (RIP),John Smith, and George Thorne all drove and Dave Hooper came into the office.

Think Dave Hooper is in a transport office, somewhere in Canada ?
As part of an inter P&O colusion I had to go to Roadways at Nursling for a meeting. I saw Dave there running the daily operations. First time since he was a driver for Armstrongs. He used to drive the Scammell six wheeler. Scammell Dayman?
Whilst we’re on the Armstrong thread, it was John Smith who drove the road train, also as MaggieD wrote Gerry had to retire after an accident. What
actually happened was a fork lift backed into him crushing his leg against
a stanchion.
He did Yugoslavia every week with a road train, anything John didn’t know about tank work wasn’t worth knowing, top man.
Hope Charlie sent you the bone, I’ll try and get a food parcel sorted and send it over to the Island
Will come over and see you soon.
Kind regards Richard
