Ahh thanks Bubbleman I remember this Scania well I bought it from Brants of Tadley as a 2 axle unit I believe it was bought new by a Norman Asher who was a subbie for Sea Route Ferry with a red 110 Scania I converted it using a tag axle from an old Scania110 six wheeler ex Cartwrights up in the midlands somewhere, they did Middle East I believe, myself and Gary Bampton did the conversion just in time for the new 38 ton weight limit.
Here is apic before we painted it

LTS, ran out of Eastleigh ( Boyatt Wood)
Any one know what happened to their manager / director Chris Hales ?
Wouldn’t mind betting he’s on here somewhere, especially with his knowledge of So’ton transport.
bubbleman:
Thought you Southampton boys might like to see this old girl. Taken at Codford cafe A36 about 1981
And thats one of Norman Offers behind him.Looks like they were bouncing back from somewhere.A bit obvious.
Hey ainacs, silk purses and sow ears come to mind !.
Hi Fergie47, Here he is with Didier who ran the French Office, and Fred longstanding driver, will try and find out where he is for you as Eric Rivers(MD) lives close by.Also attached a couple of photo’s one of a young Tony Hilton,Chris Sparkes (great bloke to run with)and Tony’s driver Ron. They were trying to move the sliding 5th wheel on the F10’s 1st trip only to realise Princes the Volvo dealer had bolted it up in the fixed position ! The LB76 is loading in Esso Port Jerome.

On a sad note , My stepfather , in law , Geoff Pilling , sadly passed away last night ,13th Aug , He was Transport manager for Hattons back in the early 70"s . Many of you will , i know remember Hattons , Yellow Daf"s and an F88 . Another part of Southamptons transport history is lost .
Hi Frenchy I copied and pasted the link onto the browser bar and your pic came up then I saved it to my photobucket and put it on here, for all to see what afine figure of a man you were back then
Regards Pat
Hi Old Trucker so sad to hear your bad news, yes another loss to Southampton’s transport history.
Regards and sympathies
