One of pats LHD Dutch imports

ROBA didn’t have any of their own trucks based in Southampton (formerly INCOTrans IIRC). All of Southampton’s operations were undertaken by subbies: Chandler, BYTR, Me and no doubt others.

Gaz thought they had an office above a premises in the fruit market, JD

Hi all, does this look like mr Ennis Stratton.

Buzzer can you turn that picture for me please. :sunglasses:

Yes ROBA had an office above the fruit market, run by 2 geezers, Paul Harrod and …I fergit!
The work was quite good. I used to do the chemical run to Bristol Europe at Latina if I could, double drive, legal in a week.
They wouldn’t allow passengers in to the chemical plant. Requesting your passport to enter. After parking outside one night they saw Sodya, they wouldn’t let her in. So after booking in, she manouvered the truck into the gateway waiting for the barrier to be raised… all hell broke loose. “She can’t come in here!” etc “But she’s the driver!” 15 mins or so of blocking the gate and her passport retained (never asked for her licence) the barrier came up and we went in! Never had a problem after that.
Titanium in barrels. Transit Swiss as it was only a 12t load. Italian Dogana at Gondo (had great photos of the rush of ice melt alongside the road) wanted to look at what Titanium was. Chunks of bright metal in an oil drum. He kept a souvenir…so did I, still got it now.
Full loads of liquid silicone (a new commodity then in 1983) in IBC’s from Dow Corning, Barry. Non hazardous but any Condom or Dogana that looked in the trailer were convinced it was. Time consuming. Can’t remember where it went, Jim Ford might remember.
