Dozen trucks all loading Perpignan at same time, Friday, not so nice.

Hi all, yes indeed tip Le fleche with cream wash out Ancenis load Balsano Italy with apple juice that was a good run empty.Best one tip Le fleche wash ancenis in the afternoon load Narbonne Friday morning clear Macon in the afternoon ship home Saturday morning from Caen that was a long hard slog. And yes Perpignan 2 a week good earner. :sunglasses:

Hi Kev you are evoking the old grey cells now, did a stint on the wine tanks me being the 10th truck of the growing fleet all the rest on traction but I still had to drive, did the tanks for DOS one down the Macon side then a second of the week Bordeaux area. Most trucks went to central routier to do customs but that was not for me as I always carried on to Saumur, nice little agent opposite the rail goods yard where you parked usually only half a dozen trucks clearing, hand in you papers and 100mtrs a little cafe and by the time you had had your coffee you were cleared but if you went to CR in Bordeaux it was two oclock before they came back from lunch and I was three hours up the road and you were lucky if you got out by 4pm in Bordeaux, Saumur was good as many a time you could catch the night boat with ease from there after doing customs.
On another note Ken Daley who drove for me did an out MT to Bolzano and back turned and burned to Perpignan and still got home Saturday lunchtime off the morning boat, think he must had more than coffee to keep him going but the job was different back then for sure, we had the best days Buzzer.

Yes Buzzer i would clear in Samure if the time was right late aftenoon was ok in Boredeaux then get next afternoon boat or even le havre it it ment dropping trailer to get home good old boy Ken i new him when he worked for David Layley up Alton /Basingstoke way Ken could talk a good talk but he could do the job to back the talk up. You are right they were good day’s. :sunglasses:

Yes indeed i loaded more than my fare share of timber for them. Not so clever when you came off the ferry grossing 50 ton and had to tip in stapleford abbotts, Miland was ok then they moved down to Whitesmiths in east sussex. Could never understand how they got away with calling there selve’s english oak. No so good when you had 3 or 4 collection’s in a tilt stripping side out every time. :sunglasses:

The “English oak” is the type of wood, isn’t it?
Just as Buzzer could have Belgian Blues, Limousin, or Aberdeen Angus cattle in Hampshire.

Oh that does bring back chills, getting off the night boat (always the night boat [emoji849]) and creeping out of Pompey docks (very heavy) and heading to miland then Essex, it was a tad better going to Sussex instead.

Also as I’m not good with heights it was great loading the wood with the guy that used to climb up and direct the forky and also throw my straps over.[emoji106][emoji106]

Also on Seabrooks were the wine deliveries when back in the UK, which I’m sure included C/S in Buxton? that estate certainly looks alot different nowadays.

Hi Polytrotter sound’s as like we should know each other. And yes wine delivery’s in uk i haven’t been to Harper Hill for year’s but yes it must have changed for the better i hope and hour’s sitting in Tesco Northampton and off course loading Jenny Baker’s and Anglo in Bradford on a Friday. As Buzzer would say Mary Hopkins moment but good day’s. Glad i was there and didn’t miss it. :sunglasses:

English oak is one of approx 600 different oak trees grown worldwide,we have some here in Portugal,I’m sure France will have some too Franglais.

The 3 potter is AT-14?
So pale blue paint under the maroon? And bright red under that?
Did you take over those twin axle road tanks too?

Can anyone on this thread remember a company back in the fifty’s that worked out of the docks in soton on refrigeration work mainly frozen New Zealand lambs, they also carried hanging meat for FMC out of the slaughter house in Salisbury all over the country and did loads of work into Smithfield meat market every night also did a lot of work for Weddles down canute road bringing stuff back down from Smithfield to them,one for you buzzer may be?? the companies name was AG MAIDMENT they had there main yard at Tisbury the other side of Salisbury, and like yourself buzzer was a farmer, if anyone has any photos, would like to see them, but ill hold my breath.

Yes took over the 2 axle tanks, as well as the FL7 units.

Those twin axles were French made wern`t they? Rather old too. One with modular wheels and other with solid wheels? Still, they did the job.
