Hi all, right to put the record straight, MaggieD no not a chariot i was a gladiator on foot in those days …
Buzzer, you’re welcome to the horses mate, deffo not for me.
Fergie, yes mate i did drive a MAN for Croucher, also for Peter Green that you’re thinking of Jimmer.
The Crouchers one i drove Dispatcher was the smaller engine ( 16.232 ? ) HHR 663N i think.
The one i drove for Peter Green was supplied and serviced by Morgans and the garage i believe was Rosehill garage.
The reg. was UTP 211T and was a V10…both i drove had the column change…
Oh and Jimmer, yes Peter Green did have a 6 wheeler rigid ROMAN that he drove himself…
Hi mappo how u doing mate used to drive for goughs of morstead many years ago with column change they had a little switch under the clutch pedal for the splitter that used to break if you were heavy on clutch so they moved the switch to the dash great fun changing gear and splitting gears used to pull zanussi trailers out of Poole with the heavy fitted sheets was a right ■■■■■■■ to sheet a crafty back load with them
Hi Spit, not doing too bad mate thanks…
The 1st MAN i drove had the ZF box that had the splitter on the gearstick on column…
The 2nd however ( the V10 ) had the rather ■■■■■■■■■■ Fuller gear change, also on the column.
I remember those bloody Zanussi sheets mate, gawd they were heavy eh…

horaces first:
Hi Jimsky, your latest model is unbelievable, rusty paintwork, snow chains, grubby chassis at the back, missing marker lens the list goes on and on, congratulations or as the kirmits say chapeau! regards Andy
Thank you "Horace’s first " the first two pics and last two pics were taken before the model had been put on its base, and your right there were no side markers on it and if you look behind the cab the air lines were not connected either all gets done on the final base, but the markers are on it in Richards pic, and air lines on !
Thanks for all the nice comments, dunno what to do next ■■? Maybe a Pat Duffy’s 142 with the tag axle?
or my first ever truck for Meachers Scammell Handyman, and 20’ container ■■?
Hi Jimski,
The spare wheel and snow chains did it for me, fantastic, well done once again.
Question: Do you live in a mansion or do you have a plane hanger in the back garden to keep this wondefull collection, ■■? Harvey
Hi HRS No … no hanger or mansion ! Just my humble shed, I’ve only got 3 models of lorrys I used to drive
All the rest have been sold to the lads that drove them or owned them. 1:24 scale that I build are quite a length Mrs won’t allow them in the house !!
Thanks Jimski,
Makes good sence, so you could have them in the house and the Mrs could live in, yep !! lets not go there. Far to cold this time of year. cheers. Harvey

Old MAN for an old man…? Right, I’ll get me coat…
You’ve mentioned ROMAN lorries in the previous post Senior, didn’t realised they got sold this side of the iron curtain…?
You were still a babe in arms when they were sold in the UK…
Aye, it’s quite clear you’re still jealous about me age, but honestly mate, the sooner you accept the fact that you’re a pensioner (not using the word old here…) the better it is… cheers for the info though

Dave,
Please do not mention to the Whipper snapper that some of these vehicles had column gear changes, remember how long it took us the explain that lorries have not always had that D-N-R switch on the dashboard, Anon 2
Tut tut Mr Smith, not every modern wagon has got said switch fitted on the dashboard, until recently I drove a Volvo where there was some sort of gear lever fitted on the side of the chair… and before that I drove a Volvo that was fitted with a proper 'box… See, you elderly people can learn a thing or two from us whippersnappers!
DISPATCHER:
Hi John no im not (unless he’s paying for my pension, I doubt it) did you notice thats not a MAN
Chris did you know Mike Chappell just wondered as I used to pass some time on occasions in his office on Segensworth before they covered the plot with houses, very interesting man who nearly always over specked the build of his equipment, remember he built a horsebox on a Dennis elite chassis for his daughter and it were built like a brick outhouse as he had the services of a really good fabricator, cheers John.
In this world there are those who like dishing it out the crap and those who cant seem to take it back the other way, think it may be you who should getting over yourself not me, seem to remember I did apologize to you but obviously that aint enough for you is it, doh.
