No problem JAB, others have asked the same question but not with such an audience as we had! All the others tittering behind you,
no names, no names!
I also had a photo of the pro gay activists pledging their love for each other but I thought it was unsuitable and image defamatory for our profession. We’ll consult our lawyer from Wellow on this, Moderators might have to remove the photos.
As for me…ah well, known in my circles for having a 15 minute nap, just to reinvigorate myself!
Gazzer I know this has been posted before but some time ago thought I would give you a little Mary Hopkin’s moment as it is nostalgic, cheers Buzzer.
Great photo John isn’t it. One of the only ones where I had my Chingford’s trailer on, CFP8.
Great duo, me and TIR Tone! Enjoyed our time on there.

Hi Buzzer,
Hows the shoulder doing? I thought it was an early reg for a gobstopper, bet it was one of those “am i doing the right thing” moments when buying that motor of Mappo’s? Cheers Pete
Pete think any of us buying a truck new for the first time is a bit nerve racking but very exciting too, £36,300 and summit was the cost back then but what a joy driving a new truck no one else has had the best out of before you get it. Since then I have bought dozens of new trucks and Horry my eldest son is always very particular on detail when they are delivered. Started buying new in a big way in the early 90’s as interest rates were low and fixed so it was a bit of a no brainer, then I always bought with a three year extended warranty and then went again at the 3 year mark buying 12 a year so no major bills and kept the fleet modern. Not sorry to be out of the day to day now as I really believe we had the best days in the job, Buzzer.

Buzzer,
I never bought new, thought about it but always had that “what if” in the back of my mind, when banks went belly up in 2008 everyone was fighting ovef the work so i sold eveything had 6 months off and went driving for the same company I’m transport manager for now,I had 12 years at it and done ok but glad I’m out of it but glad I’ve done it as well, Cheers Pete

CM carried out a road test on “one of the first 6 Globetrotters sold in the UK”. Volvo Trucks (GB) Ltd provided a Brian Yeardley unit which was coupled to an Aquila kangarou trailer.
Truck had a short review of the Globetrotter shown at the NEC show
Great pics …
Where’s Mappo then? He’s very quiet at the mo…■■
@ pete smith: As Harvey says, EAA 770W registered on the 08.08.80 and used that day. EAA 769W (EC Transport of Poole) was registered the same day but not used for about a week afterwards.
The photo of the Yeardley truck was taken by me on the A6 in France just by chance. I’m sure the driver’s name was Paul. His went on the road on the 15.08.80.
So The Joker was THE first Globetrotter ON the road in the UK. There are “V” reg trucks but they were imported from Europe later on.
