Long Departed Southampton Hauliers (Part 1)

Baldrick1953:
Can I just thank you three for making me laugh out loud , or " lol " as I believe the youngn’s say these days…

Great stuff. I think you should get the prize for best post of the year

I hope you all enjoyed your meal and look forward to any pics??

Hi Stu,

Thank you for your comments,I’ve got to say I was a little worried when we arrived at the front of Alton Towers, and Charlie opened the “door” in his pyjamas it looked like we would have to go up the back passage  rather than the front door !!

We borrowed a pair of Rose’s tinted glasses and covered a few kms, until we got ■■■■■■■■■■ from the pub.

All the best to you and your family for Christmas, hope to see you sometime in 2016.

Regards
Richard

Trawling through some pic’s sent to me by a French friend, one of the most famous French hauliers V.I.T. from the '70’s and parked up next to a famous Southampton haulier, although it is French registered. !!!

We used to pass many of those Eurohaul’s on the way down to Southern Italy. They employed some good friendly drivers over a number of years.

At least some of us are not shy of showing our revelries on an “Old ■■■■■” reunion…are you lot still on Nokia 2300’s?

Gary,

The exclusive club we were in would not allow photographs, due to the sensitivity of the action. Also Boots wouldn’t develop the film for us :unamused:

I wish you and Shirley a Bonne Natale.

Richard

Hi Jim,

Yes one of my pics, don’t know who put it on F/B
That 's a guy named Terry driving the Louis Bull Maggie, Gazzer will remember the truck as Angie & I were loading Alessio Tubi Turin one morning and a girl came out of the office and asked if we could contact Louis Bull as one of his was broken down in the IVECO garage in Annecy, the driver had gone home with someone else. We had a straight bar and luckily a hitch on the back of the flat trailer we were pulling so we put her on the bar and Angie towed me back heading for Le Havre,we did well till we got to Nemours and the Police stopped us and made us park up. If I remember correctly Gary came out with Louis Bull in the Joker tractor unit only and towed it back.Another of Buzzer’s Mary Hopkins moments !

Nothing has changed this morning, 34 years later I have to recover a Transit tipper from Emsworth. !!

Regards
Richard

It would seem it’s Angies turn to be towed !

As I am away over Christmas I would like to wish everyone on here a very Happy Christmas and all good fortune for 2016. Best Wishes Charlie.

Hi All,

Angie and I would like to wish everyone who looks on here a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year, here’s a Christmas scene to all of you from us, there is a prize of a mince pie if you know where this is,Winky,Roy Talman, Baldricks partner in crime  in one of our globetrotters parked up !!
A clue it’s not South Mimms  sorry Jimski

Have a great time

Richard & Angie x

Charlie. " away for Christmas " ? Does that mean you’re imposing yourself on others and sponging mince pies etc? Saving the cost of a turkey and all the trimmings… With no washing up??
What a splendid idea.

Richard. I’ve not seen Winky in over 20 years now. Does he post on here?
Don’t know the snow scene location… Thought it might be Claude’s but then ruled it out.

Did you contact Supermanc? I’ll be over in April hopefully so will pm you nearer the time.

In the meantime a very Happy Christmas to yourself and Angie, and the same to all who post on here.

And , finally. A thought for those we have sadly lost this year and their families for which the festive season might be one of some sadness.

All the very best. Balders.

I’ll have a go at Jayat Richard…

Hmm don’t think it was me who recovered the FIASCO with Louis, I dont remember having the pleasure of his company for that long a duration!!

Have a great festive season y’all. Go careful out there. Look forward to catching up in the new year.

Happy & Healthy Crimbo & a prosperous New Year
to everyone
Jeremy

Reckon Gazzer’s on the money there with Jayatt, I was going to say that but it’s so long ago now that I could not remember the name and I know Gazz is a mensa member JD.

Just to wish all on TNUK a happy new year as I hate Christmas, blown all out of proportion nowadays.
