I quite agree Dave ! Nice F89 would do jus fine but in me dreams now !

Nice pic Jim…
It’s definatately a gear lever your looking at in case you are confused…

Don’t think our paths ever crossed. And am sure I’m sadder for that.

Anyway … Here’s my topic for tonight.
I’m sure this won’t be popular, but here we go…,…

Reading all the topics on here… Most seem friendly and funny.
Apart from ex M/E boys…
Always havin a scrap.
I did more than you etc…
They all seem to fall out about details of trips to Jeddha etc and how many did it how quick for how much.

Whilst us South Coast Boys just remember the good times and have the craic…
See the threads… Poole , LLSH DIT SOFA etc, etc… We always laugh about the good and bad times…
Many there were too

I’m not dissing the M/ E lads for what they did. Epic stuff…

But… Come on lads . Lighten up eh.
Let’s have some humour!

I’ll stand back and get the flack now :unamused:

Regards to all.
Balders

At least it will have a gearstick to rest you hand, best stick with the merc Jim.

A couple of familiar faces from back in the day…

Nick Vosper looks a little older than when we both drove for Robert Armstrongs

The first truck I drove for Robert Armstongs based in Soton.Few trips in her from Scotland to Yugo.Next a F88,then F89 and a new F12 before I moved to sunny Queensland in 1979

Great pics Dallan. The colours bring back memories of the original Armstrong’s.I did a bit of traction work for them when I worked for Jimmy Rawlings. Did a few trips to Marsala. Keep up with the pics.Regards Charlie

Used to love pulling those road tanks when doing traction on Armstrong’s, no load surge under breaking as well baffled by the separate pots. Remember loading at the foot of the South of France between Bordeaux and Toulouse and down towards the Pyrinees mountain line, a lovely crisp morning in March. Any ways started filling tank and I needed the loo’s for a wash etc. and was shown through the pack house where they were boxing up Almenac (spelling) on my return the chap said to me "whats the weather like in Holland " at which point I told him I was English, then came some expletive and I was not suppose to be loading there but 20 kms away so a quick pump out wash out red faces and of to where I was meant to be loading, then up to Saumur for clearance and still caught the night boat.
Did not like the ISO tanks and most blokes filled them right up so no slop, of course this was over weight for the UK but we were not doing onward delivery cheers Buzzer.

Hi Jimmer.Yes the op went OK but not enough to be able to drive. I can hear Buzzer saying “Keep death off the roads” As for the Bentley it was a slip of the pen. I meant Buggy.Might be a Bentley after the Euro lottery tonight. Regards Charlie

Many thanks for the pic Dallan. Keep em coming.Good work doing Armstrong’s.well organised. Paperwork all in order etc. Plus plenty wine. The job I liked best was two trips to Goldener Oktober in Bingen and back to Grants of St James in Guildford. Nice weeks work. Regards Charlie

Hi Charlie hope you and Rose are ok, is she still doing the secretarial bit or are you good enough to see to type yourself, keep your chin up and I bet you are looking forward to Christmas are you not it will be here in a flash, cheers Buzzer.

Hi Buzzer. Rose and myself are fit and well thanks. I have made Rose redundant as she made excessive demands on me like meal money, clothes allowance, showers etc. Not blooming likely. Give them a foot and they try to take a mile.I can now see enough to type. Still having the injections in the eyes once a month. Looking forward to Christmas as usual. If anyone wants to give me a present then money will do.Hope you and yours are fit and well. I am now starting to trawl back through the pages to see what I have missed. Some beautiful pics of your horses on. The Davies thread.Regards Charlie

Hi Dallan,

Great photo’s is that Dave Enstone with you in the Marsala pic ? I sent him down there some years later to load, and the “little girl” who was there when he first went down all those years ago,now works in the office and recognized him !!
With reference to Buzzers comments about weight upon return to UK,I for my sins inherited 7 of these FL7’s together with the road tankers, and step frame iso trailers from Robert Armstrong, then P&O Tankmasters in 1990 when I took over the fleet.

Regards
Richard

Hi Charlie,

Glad to hear your operation went well and Rose is looking after you.

Regarding your Christmas present Angie has already got yours, she’s got you an i Pad instead of giving you money, oops sorry she meant she’s got you an Eye Pad :unamused: :unamused:

I’ve had a word with the Hospital and they have agreed the next time you are in they are going to try and surgically remove your wallet from your pocket !!!

Let me know when you are in and I’ll bring Mappo up to see you again, and perhaps get Buzzer & Jim to come and whoever else is about, or let me know when you are out and I’ll nip up and see Rose

Regards
Richard

Have you been mis-sold TDi ?
