JD… Hope all good. no number plate on that Akki Borderer, but brought back more than a few memories of my time at Lamberts , aged 21 and my first drive of a loaded artic. ( or Arctic as London mark called them… ) A good apprenticeship there if you like rope and sheet and handball! My first trip for them was to Boots at Beaston with double stacked pallets of shampoo and girlie stuff , unloaded in the ■■■■■■■ rain , folded all the sheets nicely…then to Corby to load paving slabs and handball them off in Eastleigh. all for about 5 bob a week. Happy Days?? Funny enough yes. But was Bloody glad when God invented the Tautliner, and later the Petter Fridge…
Sunny here the last week or so, 15 degrees … Time to get the beans in! Am behind with DIT and LDSH threads , will catch up over Weekend after the rugby… TTFN Balders.

Balders think you overstated that about the tautliner, got a feeling it was boalloy who did that with abit of guidance from God.
Surely you did not play rugger did you? bit small for that mate less you wuzz a ■■■■■■, but then if you were they would have called you FIFI and you would be wearing pink. As for the garden aint done a thing yet as far to wet but this week has been a lot sunnier and up to 15 degees here as well as febee finally got her act together, bbfn Buzzer.
Hi another of Monty’s pics this time a 1964 Smith of Maddiston Albion Unit pictured by the old Southampton swimming baths the Civic Centre is in the back ground!
I have back track a bit on the site, re the james&son with a load of spent hops??, when I was with Hills I some times did a load or two ex Brickwoods brewery at p/mouth to local farms, loaded via a shute, shoveld off at the farm!! not shure iff it was Hills work or he did it for Dukes at Bishops Waltham? Dukes also had a small yard at Kintbury nr Newbury.
Nice to see the Hills pics, what was the reason to make 874 AUU a artic version from a 6wheel tractor, any one know?
Nice to see the girder tr with a “heavey” on it again 874AUU on the front and the ANTAR pushing, that took me back a bit! I was Titch Notley’s mate/steersman, great driver re the “heavey stuff”. What was the object sat on the swan neck? looks like a storage tank?
Fergie47:
Right…'70’s and '80’s Continental lads…where’s this place…and don’t ask me, I only took the pic There’s a cafe somewhere around, it’s on the Macon - Blanc road, picture taken about 45 years ago…
Looks like Tornous(spolling)
and the kid on the bike must have saved up enough for a front wheel by now.
Jimski:
Hi All jus finished another this one for Paul Nichols ! I think he liked it !! DJO 666Y
Regards Jimmer.
Was really surprised when you turned up at mine, with the model of DJO 666Y. Could not believe how much detail there is, even down to my Collins European Map in the windscreen. I keep seeing something new every time I look at it. Brings back so many memories…some I wish I could forget!! The only thing now is, Mappos decided his would have to go back in for a refurb!! As when he had seen all the detail…he wanted to book his back in Once again Jim a big thank you and you made my day. Paul ps: To all that want to view it…there will be a small charge at the door obviously except Jim & Tony
I,m sure that could be arranged Horry.
With jimmers permission of course.
What a treat it was to see the surprise on Pauls face when Jim showed up
with the model.
Unlike other people including myself, Paul had no idea that Jim was doing it for him.

yes… Boallaoy … You’re right, John! As regards rugby, I played scrum half for Osterley extra B’s… In West London. You didn’t need to be big back then , just quick… And feed the back line… Very different now, the number 9 shirt is 2 stone heavier these days and I don’t underststand the rules…
On a trucking note, I always remember going down the hill in Newbury . Rugby ground on the right, Sayers on the left…
Hills carried brewers grain and spent hops from Brickwoods and Gibbs Mew direct I believe ?
AUU was converted due to the evolution of front knockout L/L and also change in Road Tax, when 32t came in
Tax was no longer based on unladen weight, but gross and number of axles.
Heavy Locaomotive (ie AUU,ETN etc) unladen weight did not have to include traction ballast or trailer towed.
Artics however were supposed to include the heaviest trailer used.
Object at rear of 1201 Lima looks to be corrogated, may be some kind of Hut?
Jim
Another master piece you have made,
Paul you are right I keep looking at mine (LTS Merc) & still amased at the details Jim had put into the truck, The best are the 2 loops of rope I had each side for puling up the tilt sides, I do thinks all the JIM fleet should be assembled for a photo■■?
Regards
Jeremy
Badger:
Pat
All we need now is Charlie to get better to paint the Blxxdy fence as a back drop
Jim the Rabbit hutch needs to be bigger though■■?
Jeremy
I ain’t got time to paint the fence, so many models so little time !! Hope her don’t see this
But it will get done ! Soon as the floods give up !!
Regards Jimski
Jeremy. As soon as my hip is better I will be down to Totton like a long dog. Jim has already given me 50% up front but I’ve spent it on slow horses and fast women. However as soon as I can I will limp down and get to it.Just carry on with the models Jim.Regards Charlie

Bit of lateral thinking required Charles, fit a load of 10inch paint brushes to the side of your bathchair, then just scoot up and down alongside the fence…job done,…unless you’re on job and finish…then just use one…careful, don’t paint the Merc, never seen one in a creasote colour before, Jim might notice…
Hi Charlie hope all is well, reading the posts you’ve had your op■■? Hope alls ok !! Your sure it was only 50% I gave you I thought it was full whack ! Anyways I hear your worth it I’ll pay up the rest !!
