Roy Charrett, did he have a couple of F7’s blue / grey, with his name in red on the doors ? or have I got the wrong guy…
Hi Dave,
You are right I think he had an F10 as well, pulled for LTS amongst others lived just down the road from Pitters.
Hope you and Liz are ok, we’ll come and see you soon. Regards
Richard
Hello Richard.
Thats the man, I knew him in his earlier years when he just had the one motor on containers,…nice bloke
Look forward to seeing you over again, tell Angie to bring her overalls, paddock needs cutting, but she’ll have to service the old Fergie first…and if you could bring a nice off the shoulder number, in puce pink to match the coach, we could do a test run, to see how it pays…
Hi Gazz yeah you and the snowman ! Was a long while ago now think how much that old motor of yorn would have been worth today !! You got any pics of it Gazz ■■?
Judging from the background,it’s identical to the C Wright Atkinson on the previous page which suggests that it was also supplied by Vehicle Repairs (E.G.Horrill) Ltd ,Woodlands Road,Woodlands…The Mk 2 Atkinson cab became standard at the end of 1968 so would guess that the vehicle dates from 1969/70
Ted Horrill was a sub agent of Atkinson Vehicles (London)Ltd,Nightingale Lane SW12 as was R.E.Bates of Curridge Nr Newbury.Bates’s wreckers were often to be seen assisting on the A34
Line up of tankers is at Grubers tank wash at Ludwigshaften ( Knew I’d been there, just couldn’t remember)
Volvo’s F10 / F12 were in the Mossel, Germany, Mont and Ray Rutledge and a Dutch lad
FL10 in snow was the back yard at Nichola, Paris.
ERF was a load of Schewepps, delivering in Southampton, but he can’t remember where !
The Scammel with the crane on sideways was near Hermitage, when they were doing the M4 motorway and bridges, he only had to shift it 5 miles, hence she’s on cross ways…(saved a few hours by not knocking the back bogie out)…
He was 22 at the time…always said with a bit of practice he’d make a half decent driver…he’s still practicing…
