Just a quick post to thank everybody who came along to the Crem yesterday and then onto the club afterwards.
John would have loved the whole day as it was just as he wanted it. No fuss and bother but plenty of stories and laughs.
Thanks to you all for making the day a fitting send off.

Soooo sorry I couldn’t make it Johns funeral yesterday. I,ve been away all week, no excuse
I know and I do feel guilty.
I,ve spoken with Paul Nichols and he tells me it was very well attended.
I truly think it,s great that so many paid their respects and it would have been nice to
have met up with all those old boys that did go.
You were a true character John, R I P mate.

Looks very much like some young A S Rawlings drivers to me , but Charlie one will know or Gazzer. Like the thatched mudguards bit on Mappo’s truck did not realize he was that old, did he work for Noah, cheers Buzzer.

PS. Is that in front of a British International truck ?

i know this is a bit late, but i didnt know that my very dear old friend john smith had passed away,he will be truly misses,i know that john used to go to the dorset steam ups and was into all sorts of vintage machinery it was his love,i had known john all my driving life and one thing i will say,no messing with john and a spade was spade,it was great to see that so many turned up for his farewell,especially lads like MO BAKER NIEL BARFOOT and his dad,we all worked with john on BAKERS. RIP my good friend,such a loss.

Yes john! was XFH 346T or maybe 347. Went like a train had a 350 ■■■■■■■■ Not so good at stopping though.
The blokes in pic are , my old man ( on a jolly ) me Alice the Marlborough girl? Dave Pope and the other two I can’t remember at the mo. All BIT drivers though… BV might know… Cheers! Snowed in here and running out of red wine. CRISIS! :unamused:

Hi Baldrick the guy on the right is Barry Aldridge (Reckless Rat ) I think the other chap was irish something like Dave O’Leary not sure tho. The truck would have been HFB 348X OR 346X
