fergie 47 yes Ken Oakley did work for Hills

Pat I know exactly where that but that would be to easy !!!

ainacs:
[Hi Dave yes he did live at Shedfield will have to ask Chris Hill if he worked at Hill’s of Botley.

Talking of Hills found this pic any idea where it was taken?

Regards Pat

Pat, I sometimes got a lift into / from work with him, he had a Humber Hawk at the time, some motor car in those days…Went to school with his daughter Angelia, who still lives in the same house that Ken lived in, and that must be well over 50 years now, if not longer.

The Tank on the trailer, Mont would possibly know, bet it was the Antar that has abandoned it, broken down …again…
My first ever time away was with the Antar, with Bill Miles and Graham Richardson, I was “borrowed” from the workshops as they needed a “second” mate, I was happy to oblige… we had to collect a Tank from Newport and take it to the army base at Luggershall…broke down, and got fixed, four times that trip, don’t think it was the most reliable of wagons…used more oil than diesel, and did one m.p.g loaded… C.H. will no doubt have all the statistics on it, off the top of his head I expect, he seems to have some memory…

Hi Richard

I did not have much conversation with Mike I know he was in Australia for quite a while and he had a good chat with Pat Scorey.

Regards Pat

I am fairly sure that John G Russell had a yard and workshop in Empress Road Bevois Valley on the corner opposite National Tyres, it was later used by Wing Commander Warren for his yellow truck fleet!

LTS
RJT was driven by Black Harry, He didnt mind that but hated Dirty H, JAA was driven by Dave Thorburn RIP, Which Charlie Hannam took over later,
Both had 265 Rollers with 8 spd Fullers 3/4 & 8/9 ■■■ about face, Messed up a few times when first drove them, But was Only a youngster before anyone sezs angthing. Most of the French Trailers had JAA813X painted on them as Charlie wouldn’t put a No Plate on.
The Transcon was Roger (snr) Holden’s from Bury but moved to Fair Oak was also on for Merricks & was also in their colours proir to the repaint,
Last time saw little Roger was on boxes out of the docks with a Stralis

Good evening Badger. Can remember the transcon when I was a nipper, pretty sure Mo Baker ended up with it? Can also remember the colour scheme of Morfair. Their yard was on the corner by the top of Peewit hill on the road to Kanes Hill where Ivor Truman lived. Me and my brothers mate lived down there when he was a kid. Nice to see old pics of LTS. We moved into their old yard in Andersons Road 20 years ago this September. Hardly recognisable now when I walk past it on match days, come to think of it, that whole area. How time flies!!!
