Hi, going to London first time in a few years. What’s the best route to Battersea will be coming down the M40.
44 tons. Thanks
M40, M4, A205 South Circular (Kew Bridge), then A3.
M40, M25 Anti-clock to junction 10 then A3 n/bound to Battersea.

It depends what time of day and what height your lorry is. Take account of traffic news reports about the M25 because the stretch of the M25 between the M40 and the A3 is one of the most congested on the whole route, and not just at peak times, and the A3 hits a bottleneck east of Kingston (it narrows from three lanes to one). You may find that A40/A406/A205/A3 or M25/M4/A205/A3, or going over Battersea or Chelsea bridge is quicker (not sure about weight limits round there though).
All the way down the 40 to White city then down through Shepherd’s Bush and down the embankment and over battersea bridge.
I would agree with either of the more direct routes. IF no hold ups on the M25 to J10 then the extra distance, which I guess is about 12 miles more from the M4/M25 junction compared to M4/A205/A3, might be more fuel efficient if you keep rolling in the higher gears and don’t have to keep building up speed again.
I always used to go M40/M25/M4 turn right at Chiswick R/about over Kew Bridge and pick up the South Circular ( 14’5" bridge height on Sth Circ: just after Kew Bridge)…

Thought there’s no right turn from Cheyne Walk traffic lights over Battersea Bridge ■■?

Correct, you cannot turn right there, just carry on to Chelsea Bridge…
Time of day is important too, M4 A205 and A3 wont breach the pre 7am lorry ban (if he hasn’t gone already ).

Thought so,but I haven’t been down that way for a long time, thought they might have changed it.

I thought they had when they introduced the western extension to the Congestion Charge (which took out the old B-road that accessed Battersea bridge from the A3220). Chelsea Bridge was a primary route at one point (signposted for Brighton and Dorking) but not anymore.
