Hi guys,
I want to go into central London Monday evening after work, and need suggestions of overnight
parking near a tube station, preferably on the East/South East of town.
Looking for a ‘friendly’ industrial estate or a road/layby , and it could be near
any train station.
I used to park near Vauxhall Bridge, lorry park next to police station / compound, and a tube station right outside. Not cheap though was £25 a night back in 90s. Dunno if its still there been a long time since I was down the Smoke, especially to park up.
It’s been a while but I used to park in Manchester way RM108PN. It’s only 5-10 mins walk from dagenham east tube station. That’s the district line which will fire you straight into the centre of town.

Lockwood way E17 Walthamstow, CCTV down there etc, top of road 158 bus route or 10 min walk to blackhorse Stn and 22 mins to Oxford Circus … you have ferry lane in N17 close to Tottenham hale station you have places in Leytonstone E11 for Central Line you have the Industrial estate in Leyton E10 near Leyton station
you do have Lea Valley way in Edmonton by the big tesco but it is overground trains and not up to speed on there times
Try ‘findfreeparking.co.uk’ Excellent website. Click on the interactive map, choose your area and it shows you the end of restriction times.
If you are going in the evening , you will be surprised how many places are available even right in the centre of the West End after about 1830. What with the tube prices etc, you’ll save yourself ££££s! No need to park miles away.
Hope this helps… Good Luck
We used to park in Balham, free parking all down side roads by the railway bridge.
However, as has been said, if you go to the west end then the road behind Coutts bank on the Strand (opposite Charing Cross station) is free after 1800 (or 1830, can’t remember), as is the road down the side of Her Majestey’s theatre on Haymarket.
If there’s nowhere there then there’s a car park just off Haymarket opposite the Thistle hotel who charge £10 per half day if after a certain time, or the car park behind John Lewis on Oxford street is only £15-£20 a day.
With the price of underground ticket’s being stupid these days, I generally find it’s cheaper to find somewhere to park than pay for all that fannying about.

It’s 24/7, coach and truck parking. Costs £16 for up to 12 hours and £32 for up to 24 hours. Turn in off Nine Elms Lane (opposite Cringle St) then immediate left and pull up at the barrier. Get out and walk over to the man in the booth and pay him, he’ll give you your exit ticket and a reciept then let you in. Gets loud in there overnight if you’re sleeping in the bunk, a lot of European fridges overnight there.
