london lez

On tuesday i have to take a lorry to westminster, it is not euro 4, although it does have an rpc, which nowadays only means reduced tax, so, whats the score, ? do you pay before you go in or wait for an invioce or just just hope for the best…i shant try mickey plates, its for a car park at houses of parliamnet, and the tower aint far away…lol

If you’re going to have to pay the 200quid and also suffer from having to go into London are you not going to be better off just subbing the job out to someone with a Euro4 motor? Or is it something specialised?

Paul

Its a hiab crane job, and we have to work alongside a team of installers, we also have to be there at a certain time, with a certain truck and a certain driver, and its also not the sort of work you ought to sub out, so i expect to be paying lez and the congestion charge, i have done the conjestion chaarge but not the lez, has anybody actually been done for it yet?im normally the first…

Don’t qoute me but I’m sure others on here have said first time they only got a warning letter.

Hope so, i dont like the look of that tower…i never have much luck…all gone a bit quiet about it really, was all the rage last year, then this year , nothing?

a mate of mine still sends a w reg volvo fm12 with rpc into the lez, and has done a few times since it came into force!
put the reg into the tfl website and see if your’s conforms
that is what my mate did and was told it is ok for lez!
last time i mentioned it on here i was told i was talking crap!!, someone even said" in this day and age hauliers still dont know the rules regarding the lez"
the ninimum requirement is euro 4, i was also told but this is not 100% correct as some v late euro 3 volvo’s still conform as the cut off point for lez is done by date, and at that point volvo still had some motors with euro 3 engines fitted!!!

then again what do i know moose

We got up till now 14 fines, all for Euro 3, and the dates are before 31-12-2011, have tp prove for every vehicle that it was Euro 3 as they where on Dutch an Hungarian plates.
No chance that you get away with , “just chancing” it.
It’s not worth the hassle and you can pay on their website very easy. You can even pay up to 24hrs later, so don’t pay till you’re in there just in case the job get cancelled

I have a truck that complies according to TFL and its a 1998 FM7 with nothing added to it

What happened with me was-
I recieved a letter from TFL telling me next time I go in with the same vehicle I will be fined.

You will get a warning letter on the first time thats all,we done it with 3 vehicles .

Not sure about now but I had 4 warnings on one motor in Feb & March, 2 on another in Jan & Feb and 6 on another in Jan, Feb & March (all 2012), never got a fine and have since never sent a Euro 3 in. To be fair one motor I replaced and the other 2 were waiting for the 5K exhaust systems (crane lorries that are just a bit expensive to replace when you have had them from new and know them inside out). While the letters were coming I did have an agreement from my exhaust supplier that I have heard should have sufficed?

Dont think I would be sending one in there now tho, if the job pays it then pay the fare posting.php?mode=reply&f=4&t=83866#

sons firm was sending trucks in for 1 monthly period at a time … seems like that worked well with a few changeovers outside zone… in 12 months not one fine dont seem right but it did work…
