Commuters faced rush hour mayhem after a lorry wedged itself under a railway bridge, cutting off a major Overground route through north London.
The bridge strike happened in Wood Street, Walthamstow, just before 5pm, and left London Overground services severely delayed between Hackney Downs and Chingford.
An Irish truck by the look of the reg, most likely driven by a flip flop following a sat nav. A german said to my father once while loading in Germany laughing, “Irishman if you think the pole is going to help your business your mistaking”. The German was correct

No doubt. After all it’s a well known fact no British or Irish driver has ever hit a bridge…
discoman:
wood Street E17, is not in North London.
none of the route even goes via north london … typucal lazy journal.
would of affected 2 bus routes 230/W16.
hardly any traffic gridlock to that area at all.
It doesn’t say wood street is in north London.
It says trains were affected not buses.
He can’t read headlines right as the bridge it struck takes the NORTH London railway line which runs around the top of London down to Stratford
it
Where did it mention the north london railway? …
trains across north london? yeah Chingford, Highams Park, Wood St , Walthamstow and st james street. all East London … … then Hackney downs Bethnal green and liverpool street where is stratford on that line?
read it correctly and it says later North london was disrupted, all pictures are of wood street walthamstow that it indicates in the article.
