London Container Terminal!

Well it seems the unions are causing problems here! Waiting for hours today and apparently yesterday was worse. Staff are on a go slow by all accounts because they have announced redundancies as 3 shipping lines are pulling out. So it seems the union have decided the best way to show what a mistake it is and how efficient the terminal is, is to cause hours of queues! Well done![UNAMUSED FACE][UNAMUSED FACE][UNAMUSED FACE]

Only my opinion here. But after being dicked around here for years I think they only have themselves to blame, the dockers that is. The countless hours of my life lost sat there in queues for 1 trumped up reason or another, I have no sympathy for them.
I’m not assuming london gateway will be much better, but it seems Tilbury dockers have been making their bed for years, perhaps now they’ll get to lie in it.

Is it not in Stratford anymore ? . . . been a while since ive been.

Will probably want sympathy off drivers as well!

They seem surprised that LCT are making redundancies, it’s not like they didn’t know the new terminal was coming. Think they thought that it was only going to take work off Felixstowe!

which one are you calling London Container Terminal?

there are at least three ports, plus numerous container yards

Well when it comes to dock workers, and there arrogant ,arsey attitudes,is sack all the useless sacks of s**t…This might come across as being petty and bitter …and you’d be right

The union must have had to hand out a leaflet,to explain that…just so folks would notice any difference

Well, they were going to have a “work to rule” - until it was explained they would have to go twice as fast!

Was chatting to one off the RTG trainers at Felixstowe last week, he was really slating his colleagues, very intresting. Anyway they’ve (the union) has put in for a tidy pay rise, I wont say the amount on here, and as expected the port co has knocked it back, and the response from many off his colleagues is lets call a strike, bearing in mind they’ve had a pay rise off some sort every year. They really are in the 1970’s, I did mention the name Gateway, he reckons that some off the guys there are so up themselves that they really believe Gateway will have no effect on Britains Premier Port, even if its strike bound, :unamused:

Not anymore mate. 39 and 43 have been combined and it’s now called London container terminal. Pentalvers is now in 43 berth and p&o are 31 berth. Then there is freightliner inside and maritime outside the dock

i was referring to Thamesport, Tilbury and Gateway as the three ports, not the individual berths in one particular port

In that case, he means Tilbury which is owned and operated by lct. Thamesport is a Hutchinson port and London gateway is run by Dubai ports world. I suppose the all chose similar names to show the customers around the world that they serve London. Just what you need for your box for Exeter lol

to be fair, the last time i went to any port was mid october 2011, that was felixstowe, only went there because there was a truck show at Snetterton i wanted to go to :grimacing:

can’t remember the last one before that :open_mouth: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Joys of being the boss mate

yep

if/when the planners give me a job that is going to a port, my usual reply to that is ‘my bungee cord doesn’t stretch that far’

lol

Thats true didnt spot that, just would be laughable if it wasnt so sad :unamused:

Small point, before others mention it, Felixstowe containerised to break the unions hold on the docks in london hull and liverpool. It was allready a port by act off parliment in the 19th century
