Saturday morn driving a car ? Thanks

Hi Mick, I would go straight through down the embankment, easy leads right into it…Tony

shortest route is straight thru town. youmay be ok as is saturday, alternatives would be a40 to north circular a406, or m25 m11 a12. probably much of a muchness time wise at that time

I used to use this route from Hammersmith when it was busy Saturday and Sunday evenings after a day of railway replacement bus service:

From A4 Talgarth/Cromwell rd right onto Earls court rd and follow onto the Chelsea Embankment. Turn right over Lambeth Bridge Take 2nd exit Lambeth rd A3202. At T lights with Imperial War Museum facing turn left onto A23 Kennington rd get in r/h lane immediately and almost hairpin right onto Westminster bridge rd.At St George’s circus take Borough rd (2nd exit) signed London Bridge, this leads into Borough High st A3.* Follow ahead past the Old Borough Market onto London Bridge, stay in left hand lane and move over further left at the end of the bus lane in order to turn left onto Arthur street which loops round anticlockwise to meet Upper Thames street at the lights. Turn left onto Upper Thames street/ Byward Street/Tower Hill (The Tower of London and Tower Bridge appear eventually also on right) At Tower Hill junction take lane 2 which goes to the right but do not go over Tower Bridge, follow to the left into East Smithfield A1203*

A 1203 East Smithfield. This becomes the Highway. Stay on the A1203 through the Limehouse link Tunnel. Ignore signs for Canary Wharf and stay in l/h tunnel. Watch your speed in the tunnels. This leads onto A1261 Aspen Way. AT Leamouth roundabout Take the dual carriageway exit onto the Lower Lea crossing. At the end at the r/a exit right onto Silvertown Way/ North Woolwich Way A1020.

At R/A all traffic turns left and then right at next R/A (100yds) another 100yds to r/a with one exit to the right which is Connaught rd A112. No more than 200yds on left is Hartmann rd the entrance for the London City Airport.

If this is too complicated Follow the North Circular A 406 all the way from preferably Park Royal A40 to North Woolwich. At the large end r/a Take the A1020 Royal Docks Rd and at next r/a A117 Woolwich Manor way which leads into the same A112 Albert Rd /Connaught Way and into the airport from the opposite direction.

EDIT: REVISED partly between *

Having checked Street view, the refurbishment of London Bridge Station has closed Stanier Street and blocked off St Thomas Street, meaning that a more congested route has to be taken. However there probably isn’t a great deal in it time wise.

You mean M25-M11-A406. At end of A406 straight over Roundabout and follow round Bend till Bridge before Exhibition brings you over

oh yer dont go to city airport much but do around canary wharf sometimes, 406 would be better

quickest and best every time is around m25 down m11. a lot less hassle than going thru town . dont forget this saturday west london is going to be knackered as loads of roads closed for the rugby

As said above, embankment on a Saturday morning would be quickest even with the roadworks than most of those routes. Especially the one that goes over bridges and back over other bridges lol

Just use app WASE
