They want to be Londoners let them pay for it.But it’s a transit tax for journeys starting and finishing outside London like Esher to Epsom via Chessington.
We should hit them with a ‘congestion charge’ to enter Surrey and Kent etc our own residents all exempt.

Have you considered that those living in London, may actually like cleaner air, and less congestion on their streets. Maybe that’s why they vote for Khan.

Khan has no electoral mandate in boroughs like Kingston
The inner London vote is gerry mandered iacross what was and should still be the surrounding county lines.
All the result of the GLC boundary formed by the Tory London government act 1964.
Effectively Surrey and Kent are ruled by the Tower Hamlets and Haringey vote.
So here we are Bexley and Kingston in London not Kent and Surrey.

So ‘we’ impose a ‘congestion charge’ of £12.50 per day on all London registered vehicles crossing our borders.

Yes, in witch case cars should be banned all together or a charge imposed that reflects the value if a car, on everyone, so for example if the Mayor of London decides to drive his dog for a walk in the park in his V8 Jaguar and two security cars he should pay a charge too. People who already own a non compliant car should not have to pay.
Incidentally cars older than 40 years old are also exempt

They aren’t going to pay anyone 2k to scrap a car that’s only worth 1k.
While no one is going to scrap something that’s worth 5-10k for 2k.
As for compliance are they saying that the emissions threshold will be lowered from what’s compliant now ?.

Not sure if the threshold will be lowered, The Brussels ‘Fit for 55’ lot are back at the table this week after the xmas break to thrash out the finer points of emission levels or whether e-fuels/ bio-fuels will be allowed into the mix. Still not seen anything in writing whether all ULEZ,CAZ,ZEZ’s will auto roll over to the new Euro 7 standard when it comes into force which would push a lot more vehicles into non compliance if that happens. At present it’s euro 4 for petrol,euro 6 for diesel & euro 3 for motorbikes/mopeds.
My Rover 2000 75 2.5 V6 Connoisseur is euro 3 & will be banned from all upcoming ULEZ’s around the country. Not sure what I’m going to do with it to be honest.

3 choices.1 Pay the charge, 2 convert to EV or 3 take the 2k scrappage.
Front wheel drive badge engineered Honda 3 is a no brainer.
Meanwhile check out the values of 2007 manual 3 litre BMW 3 series estates no one is going to be scrapping one of those for 2k.
Meanwhile the 6.0 litre V12 Jag is exempt from next year I’ll probably take it up to 6.8 to celebrate my pension age and it being the last of the Leyland Jags.
