London bus lanes can no one read the signs

what is it with londoners.i came out of london after doing 2 trailers into farrington street crossrail one in the empty out to to south mimms change over then back in again.was heading to medway city estate to load timber for chorley.headed out onto the A2 as it was pasted 12pm in the afternoon the buses lane were open to all traffic till 4pm in the afternoon but not one driver was using them not even down new cross road even though it was at stand still with heavy traffic.so i just carried on down the empty bus lane till it merged together and carried on my journey take like a good 20 mins off my time out of london
can no one in london read these days or do they think they will get fines for using it even though the signs cleary say u can use the lanes between 10am and 4pm in the day i use them all the time ok if it ■■■■ people off when i have to merge in so what read the road signs that cleary say u can and maybe u will not site there all day wasting ur day.

Seems to me they either need to learn to read (!) or learn to tell the time.

That’s what they don’t like is the fact vehicles have to merge back in they see it as invading their space.
So they would rather sit there and no one gets in front of them.

I have exactly the same issue in Bristol. I’ve even had a copper pull me over for using a bus lane outside the restricted times, so I walked him to the nearest time marker sign and asked him to read it. He was rather embaressed about that one

Don’t tell everyone.
Drivers not using the Bus lanes when they are allowed to makes my day.
I take full advantage.

theres no fine for not complying with the signage in that situation

It is not just London. It’s all over the country. Most drivers do not have a clue when and when the can’t use them.

people would rather not risk it due to not understanding how to read the signs so they stay out of them. know a few people like this. i find them simple to read

when i did my hgv test,i was told that if you dont use a bus lane when allowed, you fail the test.
use them all the time (when allowed ,obviously) ,had a few tear ups with people in cars that think you shouldnt be there “jumping the queue” FFS!

The signs or the people?

It’s not only the bus lanes though. e.g. on Friday I was heading South on the A5 through Hinckley. On the approach to the lights, everyone queues in the nearside lane, despite the big yellow signs specifically saying that A5 traffic should use both lanes. I just bimble down in the offside lane and then merge after the lights. Doesn’t save more than 5 minutes, admittedly - but it always feels much quicker if you can keep moving instead of sitting in a queue.

Most people seem to be unobservant, unreactive, illiterate or sheep-like in these situations.
