log books

Anyone remember what the hours were then ,I do know we could work 7 days, can not think what the daysv drive was but 11 hour spread rings a bell

Different rules at different times.
At one time it was 10 hours driving, 11 hours duty and 12.5 hours max spread, I think that the driving time was later reduced to a max of 9, but have a niggling feeling that 8 hours came into it somwehere.
A long time ago for my memory

just before my time
8 hours drive for artic
9 hours drive for rigid
92 hours a fortnight
12.5 spreadover
11 hours duty

this was about 1986 ish

then then reduced the hours to 90 a fortnight
but thought it was ok to be on duty for 15

I don’t remember any distinction in hours between artics and rigids.
But I started on log sheets(not books) so the various rules have got a bit muddled over the years.

hmm 2 books lots of work

5½ hours driving - ½ hour break and 11 hours in 24.

We still use them!!!

Funny I keep loads of junk ,like a mersey tunnel ticket 1968 ,AA badge 1962 first payslip ect ect I wished I had the old drive rules they would make good reading .
