Vehicles from previous years:-
Alex
Is it mostly modern over blinged cack, or classic old trucks.
If it’s the latter I might even rock up, but zero interest in the former.
Would lurrrve a go in that Pollock motor btw
(Peterbilt?)
My Dad used to drive one of those rounded cabbed Albions on a six wheeler …is it fibreglass?
Travelled miles with him in it as a kid,.as well as Commers, and BMCs.

That’s what Jakethesnake used to do his driver training in
.
If most of them are like the volvo and the scania longline i’d turn up.
I see stuart nicol transport 2-3 times a day on the motorway but yet i’ve never seen their scania longline that i know they have.

I’m with you Rob but I’m guessing it’s mostly small and medium sized, honest working firms there.
However I have no interest in the really old stuff if it’s only on a static display cos I can get that on the photos. I want to see how they move and sound or at least how they were put together.
On the other hand modern gear at the smaller/rural shows helps me decide what mistakes I will not repeat when I eventually set up my long, long planned small fleet.
The total bling entertains me for the first tractor unit or so and then I find them ridiculous or beyond my world after that.
As for the Pollocks (careful), I’d take the DAF all day long because I disappointingly discovered over in the USA in my 20/30’s that those trucks are decades behind ours despite their good looks. Occasionally some clever stuff for owners which may cost a few bob but any little bit of driver comfort stuff if it exists at all is bottom drawer.
But of course you too have to try it and I say this mostly for some of our younger visitor’s that may think they are severely missing out.
As far as I know that Pollock Peterbuilt got a second crack at life and was sold to a Canadian operator and shipped over. I’m sure I seen pic of it on here or twitter a few months back.
As for the SNT longline I seen that parked up once a few years ago in an industrial estate just off M6 jct 23. Had a full length tri axle on which made me wonder, would that make it overlength because of the extra length in the unit. I might be wrong in that assumption but I know the new Volvo xxl cab isn’t road legal in the UK with full length trailers.

I’d love to have that Longline Scania doing Europe, but unless I was pulling trailers for a ■■■■ circus or something
, it would be on condition that all that dog ■■■■ on the paintwork was removed
, and taken back to the silver and red…it’s a bit like being with a plain fat bird, ok when you are on your own, but ■■■■ embarrassing if your mates see you.
(After reading that back, maybe I’d settle for a ‘Male chauvinist pig’ mural on the side.
)
Still love a go in the Peterbilt, despite what you say, but you’re maybe be right that my illusions would be shattered.
What will it have…18 speed Fuller?
Wonder how many of the modern auto generation could actually drive it for more than 20yards, ok not their fault if they ain’t been shown, but it would point out that trucks ain’t supposed to be driven like cars, but with respect…an alien concept today with some of em
…starting to sound like Jake, so I’ll knock it on the head.
Anyhoo if any old stuff is there, from 60s stuff my Dad drove, to 80s stuff that I did, then so will I.

I’ve seen the SNT longliner parked up in the Pitstop truckstop. The chassis is a long wheelbase, with the fifth wheel set back. I thi k you can pull most trailers with a short king pin, like tankers and tippers. Not sure about a standard full length tri axle box/curtain…
.
Like what has already been said, the Scania longline has the fifth wheel mounted really far back allowing it to pull anything you like, i’ve seen pictures of the tractor unit before and where the fifth wheel is located so you really could pull any trailer.

Physically possible? Yes.
Legal? No.

That’s what I meant to say. You can pull most tanker and tipper trailers legally, because they are shorter than box/curtain trailers. Full length box/curtain trailers are unlikely to be within length regulations.
