Local or national?

Hi forum, been searching the forum and reading some of the posts and been a good read, but just curious about the latest advice on should someone like me (35), out of work currently by choice and I have all the funds to get my licence, go with one of these national training companies? or are they to be avoided?

I see adverts like this on job sites:
jobview.monster.co.uk/Trainee-HG … osition=13

They usually mention they have contacts with the big supermarkets etc and will help you find work, but as I’m cynical, I read that as BS, just to get your money! or do these companies actually help find you work?

Cheers!

They are brokers - Avoid!!!

Find a local trainer and do/sort it yourself…

Ok. thanks! Thought that would be the advice!

Have sent off for the forms, D2/D4, and will be looking for a local company in the highlands, Elgin area.

Lots of sound advice and information there, particularly on how to avoid getting stung. Follow Rog’s signature link and you’ll find some driving schools recommended by members here. There’s often nothing better than a good recommendation from a real person who has actually used the service.

Yeah I should have read that before I posted! One of the forum sponsors contacted me and had a look at his site and reviews on here and all seems legit! Am always a little wary of these national training centres (not just with hgv training), but cheers for all the info so far!

Yeah no worries bud, pete sounds like a nice guy, even if he did spam my inbox within seconds (just kidding pete) lol

Am off to get my passport pics taken and called my doctors to find out the cost of a medical…£100! for a 30 minute appointment. Well if thats what it costs, but was thinking it would be about £50.

That’s not too bad, my GP wanted £130!
But you can generally get a medical for £50, search google in your local area…

LOL is Mr Smythe spamming people’s inboxes now as soon as they mention training on this?
What a desperate and greedy low he has stooped to, next he will have SWAT teams dragging people out of other trainers wagons half way through lessons!
