Load too long for a tautliner

is it legal to have a load sticking out of the back door? and also do you need to put a red triangle on it?
got a load of aluminium and is sticking out about a metre and im been told its ok to go with no warning triangle is this right? not had to do this before

It’s my understanding it is legal and yes it does need a triangle marker. An old high vis tied to the end blowing about in the wind isn’t really good enough but that’s what you usually see.

I think you are allowed a metre overhang not sure about a triangle though most digger arms are not marked around here anyway but if you had one it wouldn’t hurt :sunglasses:

Up to a metre no action needed. Between 1 metre and 2 metre; made clearly visible. Exceeding 2 metre but less than 3.05 metre; end markerboard required.

The measurement is taken from the rear lights, remember.

frig it,tell em you aint happy and go to the pub !!!

^ this… perfectly legal to strap the back doors up and overhang

  • and between 1 and 2 metre the high viz is legal

Does the whole load not have to be indivisible though,i.e. one long piece?

rules on indivisible loads have changed
dunno what they are sorry

Since when? Or is this from the CB? The pub? The RDC waiting room? or the ferry?
