Load theft

A load theft with a difference from The Stockyard

That’ll be…

In bits already and advertised in Exchange and Mart.

Always wondered with the transporters, I assume the driver doesn’t travel with the keys? Even so must put the driver in a dangerous position parking up loaded for the night.

Yes the driver will have the keys to all the vehicles,he’d struggle to get them unloaded otherwise
They used to load the first vehicle then put the keys for that in the second vehicles glove box and so on so when they load the last vehicle they’d just have the one set of keys to store in the wagon somewhere…

Bit more info on it here, apparently it was some sort of special version , £80k ?

These could be the new ‘Works’ Defenders.

List price about 150K. Not sure they will be able to sell much of it on the open market, as most of the bits are bespoke and easy to recognise.

"The black two-year-old Land Rover, which has undergone a ‘Project Khan’ bespoke modification, had been collected from Bradford was due to be delivered to a garage in Essex this morning.

At least it wasn’t one of the last batch from the factory.

That might not be as secure a method as it once was what with keyless lock and ignition. Just a case of a signal extender and off you go.

Police are of course showing their usual enthusiasm on their investigation.

Must been well planed knew what they were doing.

You can’t seriously believe someone obtained the keys lowered the ramps reversed car off. And no no body saw it or questioned what was happening

Amazed it wasn’t found broken down just down the road…

Just by chance , parked in a surprisingly convenient bay , to allow it to be driven off & through a handy gap in the trees . :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused:

And I thought I was a cynic!
If it was parked against a wall, then likely the Landie woudnt have been nicked. True. But isnt that true EVERY time something is nicked? If it was safely parked, there is no theft? Not every parking slot is safe so someone must use the less safe ones, and hence are vulnerable.

I remember a bloke at Ontime “lost” a new Mercedes from Wellesbourne, they were all taxed up and fitted with customers extras.
There were questions asked at the time why the keys were left in the car.

I passed a transporter on the M18 this evening and he looked like he had six or seven Bentley’s on , they were all covered up but I’m sure they were Bentley’s . There must have been well over a million pounds worth of cars on board , they must park them up in secure parking you couldn’t leave them in any old truck stop surely

Shifted a few quids worth over the years (just thought I’d show a pic of a JLR) [emoji16][emoji16] and i was always paranoid about where i was parked and that was with lockable doors all round and a hydraulic rear door…
I thought the same when i saw the pic on Facebook that it was in a very convenient parking space for an inside job.[emoji848][emoji848]

Second paragraph

Concrete posts and a metal fence the transporter was parked up against were removed by the crooks who then unloaded the Land Rover and drove off in it without being detected.
