Load secure ?

image.jpegnot the way I’d do it relying on the banding too much ,it would take longer but I’d strap round each pack ,I see steel tubes coming up from South Wales like this .

I can see 2 straps on each bundle, sufficient IF! the banding is metal!

Does look dodgy on first look though. I would like side posts put in to be honest and loaded accordingly - if available of course, our flats have them for similar loads.

Wooden fence posts. Plenty of friction between those, not like steel pipes. As long as each pile of packs has at least two straps, Crack on drive. :smiley:

The straps are over the lot only .from what I remember of carrying them the bands were those soft flexible plastic ?

All softwood loads I’ve done over here have been plastic banding and steel for hardwood.

The plastic banding is ■■■■■■■■■ only have to look at it wrongly and it snaps.

Generally the loads I move are the white nylon stuff. Very robust. :slight_smile:

If I had been given that load on the agency then the client would have been removing that top bundle,
As we can see, it’s clearly a spineless regular employed driver, who has most probably done his DCPC yet chosen to be dictated to instead of doing the right thing.
As the spotty youth behind the desk has told him to get the job done.

Bolsters would be good precautionate measure .

hauled plenty loads like that secured exactly like that from the north of scotland down too cornwall and never had any problems, even been through vosa checkpoints and nothing been said.

Looks fine to me.

A lot of what ifs on these sorts of threads. I’ve had welded on securing eyes rated to 10 tons snap off with ratchet straps but I don’t go round welding my own on just in case.

You may not find it all collapsed necessarily even if some of the banding did break.

A closer look appears to reveal that the load is not loaded against the headboard. A most cavalier attitude, not unusual in class 2 drivers.

Cant see the headboard on the image Ive got here. Still, I would say it`s sometimes necessary to load away from headboard to avoid over-loading front axle. (Of course dependant on properly restraining against forward movement of load).

There’s 4 more packs in front ,2 on 2 up to headboard ,it’s an 8 legger so no Miether on axle weights . I should of pictured when over taking you really ■■■■■ me then !
