Hi, 1970commer. I suppose that’s your brown 1970 Commer there?
Just call me Sherlock!
Great to see you’ve got the shots I missed. Must admit I can’t get enough of that LAD Dodge in Matlock Transport’s livery- I’d take it on a run tomorrow as long as it didn’t involve handball.
Thanks to all for the kind comments on my photos- aren’t digital cameras amazing?
that would definitely be handball , 10 ton of asphalt blocks , they stuck together like ( zb ) to a blanket , didn’t need much roping though .
Oh no, not at my age, pal! Find me some pallets.
Nice to see that Nigel has repainted the K series Dodge in Pheaseys colours as his dad Graham drove for them. That Commer of yours just needs a coat of white paint and a TARMAC sticker Rob and you can have TWO trucks earning you money, if you are stuck for a driver for it you know where I live! Mind you Fletch might make me a better offer driving his Reiver…
Pete.
Great detective work ROF, we must have been following each other round at Llandudno, as for you Pete I thought you would have known by now, you have to have the new style Tarmac Lafarge stickers on your lorries, I measured the Commer and found the body was 1 inch to short to take the sticker so I don’t suppose they will let me on the scheme as I would not comply to the law of Tarmac Lafart. I’m sure Steve will find a job for you though and his reiver is already liveried up, albeit in 1970’s colours, so he would be paid 1970’s haulage rates, which I think are probably 50p per ton more than 2013 rates, see you around Pete.
That’s a bummer Rob, 1" short eh! Could weld a bit on if you were REALLY keen, but I think ‘Mad Dog’s’ Reiver will be a better bet as I could possibly get 17 ton + on that and I still have my 1970’s hard hat and workboots, even got a log book kicking around somewhere and my old A-Z’s where the blue lines are river’s, not motorways! Just heard that another TARM*C OD has decided to chuck the towel in though so I guess it might not be a good idea after all, I will just live on past memories of when I had a proper job and slept like a log at night due to being totally knackered.
Catch you around if we actually get a summer.
Pete.
hiya its this weekend… no AEC this year they turned me down, i,am taking a bike on my trailer.
if its dry i’ll have a red fleece with Shell and Ferrari badges on it. might ware JCB hat.
if its wet most likely brown wax jacket(long) and JCB hat. say hallo R O F and others.
if i do a road run red and orange 60s pudding basin crash hat. flag me down if you see me.
the camper will be open for drinks look for the JON reg it will be near new truck line up.
John
I’ll come and have a look for you, John. Especially now I know about the kettle!
Which is the better day out of Saturday and Monday, its either or,if I come to it.
Cheers Dave.
None Dave ,Sunday is best less traffic on the road .
Hiya if your a truck nut its good when you can camp on site. the trucks usually stay in place , you can walk round and get piccies.
the line of new trucks get all lit up at dark with the lights and all, not my seen but very impressive to see 120 lights on the front
of a truck.any day is good really, Saturday its quite hectic as they run a steam train from Birmingham. the road run for trucks is at
5 O clock but it takes a good 50 mins for everyone to get out of the gate…one attraction this year is a Jensen truck that,s been
restored by the Walsh brothers, i,ve not seen one of them for 50 years.

I’ve never been to that show Dan,asked the mrs if she fancies a ride out to llandudno on saturday, she said yes that would be nice, wait till she finds out theres a field full of trucks!!ta,Pete
She’ll be OK, Pete. It ties in with the town’s Victorian & Edwardian weekend so there will be plenty for her to see. Just drop her off in the middle of Llandudno and tell her you’ll pick her up in time for her to buy you a fish ‘n’ chip supper!

Hiya…serious now i think it costs a 10er to watch at Blackpool now. you have to pay to get into the fair ground area
unless the idea has been scrapped. its like Alton towers you have to pay even if you don’t ride.
