Living in a 3rd world country - fuel availablity

Last 2 nights in a row there’s been a Highways sign saying no diesel at M3 fleet services. My wife has just asked me to ring round locally as she has passed 2 empty stations.
What’s the matter this time? Is this what it’s going to be like from now on?

.
We’re more self sufficient in petrol because Brent light makes better petrol than diesel.
The sanctions on Russian oil imports have caused a shortage of diesel. While the Arabs have jumped into bed with China and it’s China’s growth in demand which is bleeding the world dry at the end of the day.
Added to that is a government policy of using stealth tactics to force the issue of the change to EVs so they’ll hit diesel today then it will probably also be petrol tomorrow.
Don’t understand why anyone wants to be using dirty diesel now at £1.80 per litre anyway including trucks.
It just provides more ammunition for the eco warriors to put us all on bicycles and buses.

Stand with Ukraine! businessinsider.com/uk-work … hip-2022-3

Check out what is the share of wheat Internationally traded that the Kremilin will have under its control (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan) and then think what will happen to the most basic foodstuffs next harvesting and export season.
And it doesnt stop there, Russia and Belarusian production of fertilisers account for about 40% of the world’s needs of this most basic input. If you think that lack of diesel is a 3rd world thing. What can you say about world-wide lack of food? Expect some scenes of famine by 2023, specially from africa and ME.

I am more supportive of military aid for Ukraine which will do a better job rather than sanctions which are crippling the Western economies.

I’m definitely not saying no sanctions, just bring them in an orderly fashion when alternatives have been secured. I understand that Ukrainians can’t wait for an orderly fashion, but sanctions would never have an immediate effect, unlike military aid.

No diesel at Watford Gap services, Southbound at least, for the last two days.

How can that be when the Ukraine was always Russia’s breadbasket not ours.
While even with all that Russia still needed massive imports of agricultural products much of it being wheat from the US at the height of the Cold War
While what’s happening now is all about China wanting a first world western lifestyle with a third world population level and they’re taking what’s ours and ironically Russia’s to get it.
As for Ukraine it just switched it’s grain exports to China instead of Russia. There was never anything in it for us.Certainly nothing worth taking a nuke over.
Like Iraqi oil were stupidly getting involved in a fight and going without to provide China’s oil and in this case food supplies.
This could get messy if/when Russia suddenly realises that China is an enemy and a competitor taking Ukraine’s respurces. Not an ally.

Why do you think that Russia would want to supply you with diesel when you are effectively at war with it.That would be total stupidity on Russia’s part.
It’s more likely that there is a point where Russia decides that military ‘aid’ is the same thing as military involvement. Then it won’t be empty diesel tanks that you’ll need to worry about.
It’s obvious that we should have moved away from stinking diesel to more petrol dependency long ago anyway.
To which Bozo’s answer is let’s be dependent on uranium and lithium and flog off our oil and gas resources.

The UK is actually self sufficient in wheat. However that doesnt protect us from the price of wheat going up. The UK should start to look at banning exports of such stuff like wheat, oil etc etc.

it will never happen , :smiling_imp: UK governments do not look after their own

Your final statement will be replicated by anyone that produces something. And then you will read about some abominations like, people starving in some poor country because a previously wheat exporting country banned exports as the price of animal feed for it’s milk and meat industries was skyrocketing.

Pestilence(done), War(currently going on), Famine (straight ahead). Whats the fourth horseman?

That Osark is indeed a very good question.
What is the next trick they already have planned, their idea of zombies?

Hmm, sleeping on this question, we’re being propagandised as is now the new normal in typically hysterical fashion across the whole mainstream into one view only of the current war.
I suspect this is a softening up process to get the public agreeing with the next stage.

Hopefully people will remember how many lies have been told to justify numerous recent military expeditions, which killed hundreds of thousands of innocents and left entire countries in ruins, all to change regimes which the new world order decided had to be replaced.

Pestilence…

Fizzled out.

War, currently going on and hopefully the Russians will get there arse handed to them bringing around a better world order.

Famine, no there isn’t.

Death, everyone has that hurdle to jump.

I bet you’re a scream at people’s parties. :unamused:

^ That’s how the Irish starved because all they could afford was potatoes and they were all out of potatoes.
It would be like allowing Ireland to starve to maintain stocks and profits of McDonalds UK and dairy suppliers.
Then they call on people to fight for their country.
Napoleon was right Britain is a nation of shopkeepers.
