Live aid anniversary tv shows

40 YEARS since Live Aid ffs !
I know some of you weren’t even born…I was only a few months old myself in fact :joy:… (I wasn’t)

There is a lot of stuff on BBC I player about it at the moment.
A lot of it I have yet to watch, but I binged on about 4 hours last night on BBC 2, sat up on my own in a hot room in my undercrackers :joy: with a pizza and a case of ice cold Bud watching the performances on that day.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I did see a lot of it back then in 85, but this brought back a hell of a lot of memories, and it struck me just how many aint here anymore, and just how good it was.
A lot of the performances I’d forgot about, so yeah, enjoyed it a lot.

Highlight for me was Bowie, The Who (who actually reformed for the gig) Queen and Dire Straits in UK.
Thrn in Philadelphia particularly Simple Minds, The Cars. Madonna (fairly ‘hot’ in those days btw ) and Tom Petty.

So if you like music, it’s a must to watch.
There are also other programmes and documentaries about it out there.

Was it Phill Collins who did both the American and London gig by flying in, as in do one then the next one?

I heard that millions went missing due to corruption in Africa, and allegedly the money spent buying private jets, luxurious houses, yachts and expensive holidays, those dictators in what they say are banana republic’s.

I listened to Midge Ure being interviewed by Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2 yesterday and they played a clip from the concert of Queen playing We are The Champions and it actually made the hair on my arms stand up when I heard the roar of the crowd. Love him or loathe him Freddy Mercury was one of history’s greatest showmen.

Yeah well that depends on whether or not you believe all that bo11ocks…‘‘what you heard’’.

On the other hand it did a whole lot of good and still does today, and saved many lives.

I aint a fan of Geldof’s music, but the man deserves a lot of credit for what he did.
One of the very few genuine good people, even in his personal life he adopted the little girl who was the result of his Mrs many ‘adventures’ after she died.
Top bloke in my eyes.

On the telly box tonight is Bohemian Rhapsody starring Rami Malek whose front teeth look remarkably similar to the late Freddie Mercury.
Film Four at 21.00.

Yep anybody would think they weren’t real in the film, but cosmetic ‘props’ to actually make him look like Freddie.

Anyhoo …
That little girl in the ‘Drive’ vid who was starving and covered in flies, she was an example, she lived because of Live Aid.
There was a documentary on a few years ago when she met Geldof and personally thanked him.

Another kinda emotional programme was Billy Connolly in Ethiopia when a hard assed realist like him actually shed tears, which just showed how bad it was over there at the time.

I saw Rami in the Royal Box at Wimbledon and his real teeth resemble Freddie’s teeth, I don’t think they used cosmetic props in the film, I will email him later to concur.

You do what you think is appropriate Toby.
But ffs do NOT get back to me on it… life’s too short man.

Yep…identical.

She and her dad were in the 3 part doc about it, I crashed though yesterday.
