hi guys, long time reader first time poster, sorry if this is a bit of topic but I have done a good few searches and cant find info on this anywhere.
I’m planning a trip around mainly germany in my car this summer and trying to sort out accomodation, does anyone know if a there is a chain of motels on the autobahns in germany like travellodge in the UK or motel 6/super 8s in the US.
Dont want to be going into cities for hotels cause we had a nightmare last year trying to find the hotel after a long days drving and then finding out it was a dump and then paying up to €30 to park the car in a car park about 2miles away from the hotel for the night.
Hi Porsche. I did a similiar holiday a few years ago through Holland,Germany and Denmark but we also camped in a couple of places but if you try www.accorhotels.com you’ll find plenty of choices all over europe. They have bargain bucket hotels like Formula 1 and Etap, then up the scale you have Ibis and more akin to our own Travel Lodge/Inns, you have Mercure. I stayed in all sorts and found most to be adequate for at least a decent nights sleep. There is also some very nice Autobahn motels at a lot of services and if I recall, the signs on the motorways give you prior notice of the next couple of service areas with the facilities listed:ie,Gas Stns, restuarants and hotels.
Any trip to Germany this summer would be best delayed until AFTER the World Cup, I think it will be quite intense out there during June
Typing “Motels Germany” into Google will give you plenty of choice. If you can keep outside the big cities then I’m sure you’re find many good quality, inexpensive places to choose from
Lads cheers for yer help, nearly all sorted now, its actually during the world cup so was thinking it would be a nightmare but it has turned out okay, prices are very reasonable ended up getting 2 hotels with accor(2 4stars in the city centre for only €79 per room and free parking, getting a rental with sat nav so hopefully wont be any trouble finding them), one with etap(very reasonalble at €37 a room) and still waiting for one hotel to come back to me.
Was hoping to get in a world cup game or 2 but thats unlikey, tickets are all sold and they are going for shocking money on places like ebay
