Little Green Shoots

Things are looking up a little on the job front.

i got a phone call from an Agency last Sunday afternoon fro a Class 2 job Monday morning 08:30 start 22 miles from my home. Possible night out, take gear with you.

The job was 2 and a half days work.

Monday
Pickup 7 pallets at manchester in a 26 tonner. Drive to Hampton (London). Pick up another 4 pallets.
Meet colleague at Feltham, Swap trucks taking his empty 18 tonner. drive up M1 as far as hours permit towards Mansfield.
Sleepover Northampton services.

Tuesday
Drive to Mansfield. Pick up 11 Pallets. Drive to Llanelli. Tip load. Start off home until no more hours left.
Stop overnight at Monmouth.

Wednesday
Drive back to base at Manchester

So there IS some work out thereand I didn’t even need to knock on doors for it. But I would advise everybody to do exactly that for work, I was just dead dead jammy and I know it. However, it was my first driving job THIS YEAR!!

I have been temping in an office job 2 - 3 days a week since 2nd jan.

Things might just be slowly, slowly getting a tiny bit better out there.

Nice to hear a bit of positive news about jobs on here, well done.

Just got my shiney new licence through the post today so it is off to register with the local agency tomorrow.

Drive to Mansfield.

… and I take it you must have heard how bad the coffee is as I didn’t see you!!! Glad your’e working. Pete

And where exactly would you suggest he park a 26t truck in Mansfield Woodhouse, as your centre is for Redfern or PSTT or vehicle inspections by appointment :smiling_imp:

Any visitors with trucks are welcome to use my parking area - for coffee purposes only ie no overnighters please!! Pete

Thanks for the coffee offer Peter.

Dean, I was in an 18 tonner when at Mansfield 'cos I swapped the 26 tonner with a colleague at Feltham on Monday night.

Peter, I went to Somercoates actually which I believe is really only near Mansfield, off the A38 and not IN God’s Little Acre!

Hopefully I could pop in if I’m ever in the area looking for a 45 or 30 min rest break !!

Why not get your yard and offices liveried out like your new trucks? That would be a conversation opener and an easy way to find you!!

Simples!! I don’t want to loose my tenancy!!!

Somercotes is a few miles from me. Around 25 mins by truck so not such a good idea perhaps.

Maybe see you another time. Pete

ANOTHER phone call this afternoon from the same agency offering 2 days work, 04:30 a.m. start tomorrow, night out stopover somewhere return to base Friday.

The TM had asked for me specifically.

AAAAAAGHHHH I can’t do it because I have already accepted 5 hours work for tomorrow and I just CAN’T let this customer down on this specific job.
AAAAGGGGHHHH !!!

Typical, agency work a bit like buses with several coming at once!

That’s my tough s**t I know, but it’s a bit of good news for somebody else and at least there is evidence of some work around, even if it was filling in for a driver off sick or something.

So keep yer chins up Gals and Guys.
