List of companies doing euro, listed here

I know you said Pilkington Glass but isn’t the transport done by ‘Nico Nijman’ if it’s the glass trailers from St; Helens through Hull to Europe?

But bigbird201 why so coy about your employer?
‘Dead mans shoes’ job as far as I’m aware!! :exclamation: :exclamation:

Maybe the company you work for wasn’t mentioned because it’s well known you can’t get a start for them unless you have a got an ‘in’ with them from a relative or someone retires or dies!

I stand to be corrected on this post but if I’m right then you have obviously have got a good little gig sorted and make the most of it coz everything is being squeezed at the moment, hope it all picks up soon.
Regards
Dave Penn;

I will have to put you right there Dave, i do work for Nijman Zeetank who are the main haulier for Pilkington glass. But the myth of dead mans shoes is balderdash, a good word does go along way, but like any man in the street your open to apply for a job. No need to be coy about the company, i worked at Suttons for 13yrs as a general tramper, but we have guys here who have come from Sainsburys at Haydock and have never had any experience handling glass. But unfortunatley like everything else the automotive industry, and the building industry is on the back foot, and they are our biggest source of work. While the UK economy is very slow we seem to exporting alot more thus shipping here there and everywhere. Ive been here 9 years and even i don’t know if i’m safe while the economy is in the state it is, but Dave like anyone else if the place picks up i will post it here first and you can PM me and iwill have a word!!

Thanks bb201, as I said ‘stood to be corrected’ and in this day an age its good to hear the situation straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. no offence intended at all
See the Nijman/Zeetank outfits up and down the M62 all the time and have always thought it would be a good job to get on but as we all know it always helps to have someone put a good word in for you.

From your recent posts I think you might be on the ferry tonight or tomorrow so have a safe journey and hope to catch up soon.

Thanks and all the best M8
Stay safe

Hey Dave thanks for replying, the truth is i don’t need to bulls…t anyone, it is a good job and if you get stressed its your own making. In the “old days” when it was Pilkington it was very clickey and dead mans shoes but those days are gone. Those old boys have moved on some good characters, a few herberts, and a few lazy barstewards, are still here, but they are all near retirement and that makes way for other folk.Like i said if i get word i will put it out. I’m shipping out tommorow so hope to catch you on here soon!!

Boyles transport are based in Scotland,

Trip money but if yoiu want to do a bit they are taking on.

In fact they’re always taking on, can’t seem to keep drivers, don’t know why :sunglasses:

They run out of scotland, but are based in ireland, or at least they were about 12 months ago.
The boss told me " Some of the boys take home as much as £500, If they get 2 italy trips done in a week"

I used to work for Zeetank when they had their office in Southport. I was on the tanks and later spent time over in Spijkenisse. I havent done the glass but delivered some new trucks and innenladers into St Helens for them. It must have been around 1985 as these were the first DAF 2800ATi.

I think the bloke who was my UK planner in those days is probably your boss now. The company seemed to have a bit of an identity crisis as the office kept moving, it was in Lincoln for a while when they were ■■■■■■■ with Suthrell.

As for the drivers. I am surprised the Dutch lads could get out of their cabs, they seemed to spend all their working life on the posh ferry between Hull and Europoort with a 30 minute drive at one end and a 2 hour each way trip in the UK.

Boyles office is in N.Ireland but all his trucks are over in Scotland.
The money is £500 a week take home but that’s just for 1 Italy a week, every week if he can get it out of you. :sunglasses:

I understand that Boyles changed their pay system very recently.
I think they’re now on a weekly salary.

Yes Simon they have, they had a several drivers pulled at Gretna so I am led to believe and that is why he changed the pay but knowing PJ he will still want you there and back in a week and some of his drivers will still do it.

thought i would let u know continental express r not takin any drivers on so i will save u the call

B&Q Swindon depot run to France (St.Brieuc) with fridges on flower collections and deliver into B&Q Coventry rdc. I work for them full time on flower and plant work, and the last trip I did a couple of weeks ago I had 3 agency drivers along for company. The agency that B&Q use in Swindon is called "Go New` if anyone is interested. Though with the demise of Woolworths and Honda about to shut down for a couple of months in February, it looks like there may be a surplus of drivers in Swindon. Still worth a try though, I think.
