So, I’m in the process of going limited, and need to come up with a name. I don’t want to use my own surname, mainly because its easy to mispronounce (Alderdice) and people tend to misspell it easily enough as it is. I’ve been mulling it over, and have come up with a couple of names, and just want some input on them.
Ok, first one is Hey Drive, purely because when I turn up somewhere, the first thing said to me is (along with every other driver I’ve met) Hi/Hey/Alright Drive.
Second is Wagonista, was just an idea after sitting in Costa, their Barista’s are trained to do their job, our job is to drive wagons, therefore Wagonista.
So, over to you, yay or nay? I’m looking to the future, where if I can make a go of this, maybe I can take couple more people on, therefore I want something catchy. I’ve checked on companies house and both names are free, as in not being used or have been used.
When i see the Barista’s in costa tempted to ask for legal advice.
Skip firm I worked for in Harrogate many years ago was called A1A, the reason been it was the first name in the book (Alphabetical order)when people were looking, Dont know if it still applies if searching on the net…
If you’re going to be advertising using the net, use a name that is unique. For example; the band Chvrches have used an old spelling of the word churches. Reason being, if you googled churches, you’d never find the band in the search results.
If I’m honest, I don’t like either of your suggestions but I don’t have anything better to offer other than to use your initials with either haulage or logistics on the end. Ben (I don’t know your first name) Alderdice Haulage = BAH
I wanted to steer clear of haulage or logistics, simply because its something I’m not, at the moment anyway. I’m just a driver, don’t have my own vehicle etc.
How about Teddy Stobrates ? Or Albert Dressingtable? Or maybe Wink & Antons Transport?
Seriously, you need it short and snappy.
Driving Ambition? A2B? Driving Force? Probably all in use.
Or pick a name everyone has heard of such as Shakespeare’s or Bond’s - that way folk will remember it easily.
Aardvark services (first in the phone book)
iHaul
iDrive
Or similar.
Personally I use Rhino then add whatever the limited company does for example
I have
Rhino Marketing (Mrs TT does this)
Rhino Services (myself and a few mates who do various different things all under one unbrella)
Rhino Homecare (MIL and SIL doing cleaning and that)
Rhino Auto Repair (car repair garage)
All under Rhino Group LLP
The name started in the pub as apparently it’s ideal. ■■■■■, stubborn and charge a lot

As a client would you use a company that used a slogan asking you to gamble on them? That’s like saying you’re taking a risk using us.
now you mention it yes you have a point mick , it just seemed a brill play on words but on hindsight …
if you are married or got kids try to make something up with their names because in the long run that’s what most people work for.

Fly by nite seems to be doing ok.
I think there is a Dyce transport near Aberdeen though so it might already be taken.
I’d go for something not too specific so you expand or change without having to change the name. Surname of town is always a good one
My advice is keep it neutral and non offensive with a unique spelling. Helps with websearches, avoids confusion when talking to customers and if you can get a personal aspect all the better. Does not limit you to haulage either.
Hope this helps

See I’m the serious one, took me all of 60 seconds to think of that.
Or Alders or Adlers, I prefer Adlers
Yes it could be mistaken for Allardice which probably will suffer from negative connotations in the near future…
