Lift sharing

It’s getting worse, just woke up and I’ve got a car parked 2 inches from my front bumper and another one the same at the back.

Luckily the guy behind got dropped off so saved me from a shunting back and forth 100 times.

More and more layby’s seemed to be getting filled with these, I’m all for getting cars off the road but this is happening almost weekly now. :imp:

If it’s somewhere remote, just nudge them if nobody’s watching. They can’t prove it was you unless the car wont detach itself.
I think many businesses even on industrial estates are allowed so many spaces per unit. If they take up more they’re charged. I deliver to a place near Exeter airport where I now can open both curtains for the forklift rather than pumptrucking pallets across, as the workers were using the allocated spaces of an empty unit nextdoor.

Oh I see. Thought you meant lift sharing like this…

If you are driving an artic or drawbar, drop the trailer and shunt forward half a car length before you stop for the night.

You may need to check the insurance position though: some trailers are only insured if attached to a prime-mover.

To cover the insurance leave the susies connected, trailer then still connected to truck.

Don’t forget your trailer brake.

Originally there had to be lay bys just before/after any motorway junction on the non motorway road thereby enabling anyone wishing to stop either before commencing their motorway journey or after coming off to do so. I notice this no longer seems to be the case and as the op says many are full as his description with car sharers. Perhaps the authorities should be encouraged to impose restrictions, say 30mins max, for vehicles under 3:5 tonnes. This would then free up much needed space for those of us who are obliged to stop whatever…
Oh hang on that’s lorries… unwanted by any local authority!

I’m in a 6 wheeler unfortunately! :frowning: otherwise I would drop the trailer.

Maybe I can drop the moffet instead? AlthoughI can imagine the conversation if that thing got nicked

Even better I could use the moffett and place the car out the way, like the other side of the barrier
