due to some unforeseen circumstances I need to get to Poland soon after Easter and the plane tickets are robbery, because it’s just after Easter. I would be cheaper going with my car, if I could afford petrol, but I can’t spend 500 quid on that trip just now. Therefore I think I will have to go by hithchiking. Our company is rarely going over the water recently, so I will propably need lift from London down the road. I used to hitchhike to and from Poland few times and I know that it’s the harderst bit to get over the water, so I wonder if maybe some of you go there regularly and could give me lift? Even Calais would be helpful, I will manage from there…
Or do you know where would be the best place to go and ask - some truckstop where trucks stop before going over the water etc?
Harry Monk:
If I was shipping out, you’d be welcome but I don’t think I will be and even when I do it’s normally at 30 minutes notice, how about a direct coach?
It’s just after Easter, prices are crazy…
Anyway, I’ll keep looking, all suggestions welcome.

If its an Emergency and you need to get Home for good ring the Embassy and explain your Situation. They will give ya a Ticket you have to pay back. But they may not if its a Round trip as they just help to get home.
But you may get lucky and someone sends you a PM,so stay tuned
what sort of date are we talking about, this week, next week, i will be running along m4 corridor round m25 to tunnel early bank holiday monday the 9th, and down to last services in lux heading for germany for monday night. not regular only this week. if you can get anywhere along the route you would be welcome. leaving bristol 06.00 looking to be at tunnel between 10 and 11.00.the timings are tight so no deviations im afraid.
I’m loading Liverpool for Holland on Thursday Orys but I wil need to check with the boss as it’s a secure load. I’ll get him to check with them Tuesday morning. You’re more than welcome if they ok it
I am thinking about leaving Monday to Wednesday, I just have to disappear from Glasgow on Monday.
It’s not as big emergency that I would need help of my embassy or something. It’s just, well. What a hell, I think I can tell you the story, you don’t know anyone anyway.
There was a pregnant woman beaten and abused by her partner, and I kinda helped her - she turned to me for help because she knows I used to be a police interpreter and I know where to go for help, the procedures etc. I picked her up with my car and delivered to the police, made a statement of what I witnessed, helped with “woman’s aid” etc etc, I am also sheltering her cats at the moment (don’t tell my landlord ).
Now this guy will be released from custody propably Monday or Tuesday and will be seeking revenge. Her friends want to convict him that he leaves Scotland, and also they want to tell him that I left Scotland, so I have to disappear for some time until they “sort him out” (and I am not talking about any illegal actions, they just want to convict him that he has nothing to do in Glasgow any more and he has to believe that I left as well), after he moves out I will be able to come back. So I decided just to take few days off and go to visit my friends instead of sit in hiding. And since I am not too rich at the moment and tickets are bloody expensive, I decided to go low-budget way.
We always seem to have “fights” in the car park between our large number of Polish (and other East European) workers. Which always bemuses me, because the ones i work with on a daily basis are totally sound. It seems to be the lads who work in Production that have this problem!
Maybe making 25-32 fence panels an hour, with a nail gun, brings out an aggressive streak in people?
Well, I guess about the same as with every other nation I have to say I am not an expert on that field, I usually circulate in the company that does not fight each other - last time I was fighting was when I was 15… From my point of view it looks that Scottish people are more aggressive (Especially when drunk) but I guess it’s because most of my Polish friends are educated, while most of Scots I know are from places I’ve been working and they are working class people… I guess that fights happen more often with working class people (of both nations) than amongst students…

Well, many people who work as production worker are not the brightest ones if you know what I mean. And therefore see above…

Well, I would shoot that gun into my own head after few hours of such job
Anyway: this was a bit I hated in that interpreter’s job, dealign with that sort of people. I am very unhappy that I got involved, but sometimes you can’t just stand and look what’s going on, I would do it even to stranger and this is the woman I know…
You mention you know who to contact as a police interpreter. Can’t you take your own advice and ring someone there. Mob rule is frowned upon, even in Glasgow
He’ll most likely have bail conditions not to go anywhere near the female. If you ring the nick and tell them your concerns, they may extend the bail conditions to going anywhere near you as well. If he breaches his bail, he’ll be arrested and remanded.
What exactly is he going to do to you ffs?
Man up, pop to tesco for a nice new shiny baseball and bat set and sit tight and await his arrival on your door. He probably wont even bother seeing as he will already be in the crap from what has just happened. You shouldn’t have to run away from this prat, nor should you “have” to fight him but if he comes looking for you and you defend yourself then the law will side with you.
I have never heard anything so ridiculous, running to Poland until he is convinced you have moved on?
