Ah my subject. Worked at the WsM RDC for a while back in 2006. Llidls do not have their own units or drivers there. I believe they don’t anywhere but I may be wrong. All are sub contractors. Was not a bad job really. Quite tight on timing but you load/unload yourself so can make ‘adjustments’ if you know what I mean

Can only comment on Lidl in Scotland, but would assume it’s the same all over the country. All work is done by contractors, they don’t have their own vehicles.

Our firm used to do some Sub-Contract work out of Lutterworth, so it’s Subbies there too.

I had to deliver to a lidl the other day, they had a load of stuff sent through a pallet network. Had to reverse all the way through the busy car park, with cars darting around everywhere and then offload it through the front doors on a pump truck.

Glad I don’t go there very often! Better than Morrisons though, took them 20 mins just to answer the gate bell.

When lidl opened about 20 years ago in lutterworth they ran their own trucks — bright yellow ones.
There was safety issues with the driver on his own at store at night and the german architect made most stores bay a left hand drive reverse.
tnt ran transport for a while.
Think now its about 2 runs and drivers have to load up their trailer at depot.

years back lidl di do their own trans ports then they contracted out the work ,

did it once never again .
load yer own trailer ? ok but i never drove a ride on pallet truck before ,? shown a line if pallets that wernt in store order that had to be put on the trailer , warehouse staff that took no interest in helping you find anything ,7 drops over the south of england , no bays all scissor lift at kicking out time & 20 phone calls an hour asking what time you’ll be finished ? solution , get the pallets off in the right store, leave the returns , unplug the phone , & have a good hour break at cartgate , then trundle on back a good hour after they wanted the truck back ,
got a good 15 hours out of a supposed 8 hour shift & after unpluging the phone , a quiet night , leisurely drive & a good fry up.

i never went back surprisingly
