Yep. When i left school I worked in a canning factory. We made baked beans for tesco, M&S, sainsburys etc etc and they all came of the same line but had a small tweak to their sauce recipe. For example, 1 batch of tesco sauce for the beans may have 25 kg salt but the sainburys might have 21kg salt.
Canned soup, peas, marmalade…didnt matter it was all the same ingredients but just in different quantities.

Cheapy supermarkets not up to standard?Last time i looked a bag of tate and lyle’s sugar, a 6 pinter of milk and a pack of British butter were all the same whether sold by Lidl or the most expensive place the faux middle classes could wish to be seen.
Tried the Cornish ice cream at Lidl? debloodylicious as is the Lasagne and their fresh baked rolls (Panini, yum), knock spots off the main supermarkets and good savings all round, Lidl don’t have any self service tills, no need their check out people are like greased lightning, you can scarcely keep up just pilling the stuff back in the trolley.
the lidl on our road in Bristol has self serving tills and has had them for a number of years.

Juddian:
Angus beef joints as well juddian, absolutely fantastic, sells out as soon as it hits the shop floor.
Much obliged to me learned friend, haven’t tried one yet but will next time they have them in.
I stand corrected about self service at Lidl’s then, not seen them around our way, yet.
Its those tills that have seen me abandon Asda, barely a manned till to be found.
Still prefer shopping at Morrisons, their offers are well worth stocking up on, but for staple foods you struggle to beat Lidls.

There is a big problem with the self service tills, which is why they seem very underused. Any problems, or required age verification, needs a staff member to stop working the till… so it can take ages to pay and be done, by which point you may aswel que for a till

I used to work for Fox’s biscuits…All the biscuits and nice cookies in Aldi & Lidl are from the same factory as the M & S and Waitrose cookies. Slightly tweaked recipes but half the price!
In fact all the own brand biscuits in all the supermarkets are made by Fox’s or McVities pretty much.
Same with the cakes, they nearly all come from the same factories but it doesn’t really mean much if the recipes are completely different.
Found Asda scan & go & Sainsburys SmartShop work fairly well.
Scan items on phone put straight into shopping bags in trolley, no need to take everything out again at checkout (unless you get random check & you’ve forgotten to scan something) very rare much of a delay for verification.
Also you can keep track of how much your spending as you put stuff in your bags.

Makes me laugh when I pull into a discounter car park with my old banger, only to see the place choc-a-bloc with 4x4s, sports cars, SUVs which probably cost more in fuel to get around there than they are then going to save even with a tenner off every shop compared to the mainstream supermarkets…
Probably not a problem up Norf - but Lidls and others in Penzance have had their shelves cleared out this weekend with a sudden rush of Hollibobers (Emmets).
Deliveries will have to double or more until September until the Hollibobers return to their normal habitats,
or as we say F**** O** H***
Coming down our way?? - prepare for queues of Caravans and others who haven’t experienced narrow roads.
If you are lucky Robroy will have blazed a trail ahead of you.

I must have had a lucky escape last Sunday when I did Newport to Helston and back. Clear roads all the way down and back!

in my local lidl the turnover of staff is really high , why they leave or get the boot is anybodys guess?? i also shop in Asda staff there been there forever! and iv never once seen a Security van picking up the cash at Lidl theres defo a weird undercurrent to Lidl but cant put my finger on it as the staff seem ok,but then suddenly their gone
Asda app is great as if you can’t find it you can look it up on the app and it will tell you where it is.
As for del to supermarkets, not done it for a while but all the retailers used to keep trucks waiting for hours a lot of the time

Maybe they leave because it’s a bad job? Next time you to go to asda watch how many times check out staff close the till to go & stack shelves & back to the check out in the space of 2 mins!
I used to work for a juice company bottled fresh fruit juice for all sorts of shops. When a product wasnt up to scratch we used to throw it into big containers"to be disposed of" these containers could sit out in the warm warehouse for 24 hours at least. What did they do with the contents bottled it as finest fruit juice for a top supermarket
All juice is made from fruit that customers, for various reasons, won’t buy.
