GORDON 50:

Have not got a clue what C C1 and all the rest of it is.
Class 1 2 and 3 is much easier, although maybe old fashioned.
A mate of mine sent his Class 3 in for renewal many years ago and got a Class 1 artic licence returned to him.
He was very select who he told and kept his gob shut to everybody else.
He retired about 2 yrs ago after driving artics for 25 years.
Maybe your mate should have done the same and kept schtum with his head down instead of drawing attention to it.
No doubt the self righteous never do anything wrong types will disagree. :unamused:

A friend of mine had exactly the same, as the old class 3 entitled you to also drive drawbars, which is now C+E, new licence issued with C+E category.
But he failed to spot the restriction number next to it which limited him to drawbars only.

We must be old to remember that !

Happened to my brother years ago - he had a Cl 3 and PSV licence but he sent it away for an address change and when it came back he had Cl 1 on it. He reckoned that the authorities at the time (no DVLA or whatever its called this month, back then) allowed rigid drivers who had held the licence for a period of time automatically to an upgrade. If I recall this went on for about a year but I’m going back 40 years or so.

Conor:
Jesus. Are you sure you want to be sat in the passenger seat of a truck where the driver doesn’t even know WTF he was driving or what course or test he was taking?

■■■■ that mate you wanner be sat in the passenger seat when an Agency driver is behind the wheel been there worn the tee shirt :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

In my mate’s case there was no automatic upgrade, it was a mistake on the L.A’s part.
It was around 86ish.
