At long last my licence has turned up… What a farce as this really delays people trying to jump through all the hurdles to be fully qualified as a Hgv driver…

Still got the class 1 test to do and will have to wait yet more time for my licence to be returned again at that stage. Add the wait of waiting for my licence to return from class 1 as well when I pass it, with all the time spent from start to finish of appliying, medical, spurious delays at dvla and having classes added will take the whole process of dealing with the dvla to almost four/five months. Add that to the training time, waiting for training time availability (Class 1 booked up until mid January 2015) I would estimate the whole process will take 7/8 months.

And they wonder why there is a shortage of drivers…

So how long did it take for you to get your licence back

A bloke I work with just had to get a medical and send his off again I think it took him over 2 months to get it back. Hes had it back about a month now.

However I just sent off for my provisional that took 8 days to get back to me only to find out the doctor hadn’t filled the form in correctly :blush: :unamused: She was ■■■■■■■ fit so I will let her off :smiley:

They use spurious fake medical questions that don’t need answering to delay the whole licence issue process because they have a big back log on processing the paperwork
