Licence Renewal entitlement loss?

Hi Guys

First things first, thanks for having me.

My licence photo is due for renewal, no problems there, but my PCV/PSV is due at the same time. I have had my PCV since 1984 (All Types) and don’t particularly want to loose it but I don’t and have not driven buses ect for the past 11 years and off hand don’t think I will go back driving ever… BUT, there is always that chance I will need it… If I chose not to renew my PCV entitlement this time, is there a length of time that I can reapply for it with no hassle? i:e 10 years? or do the DVLA delete the entitlement so to speak?

Thanks for your input guys

No time limit for getting the PCV or LGV back by passing a D4 medical

ALWAYS SCAN THE LICENCE INTO YOUR PC BEFORE SENDING SO YOU HAVE A COPY OF BOTH SIDES

Is the PCV current at the moment?

Iirc when you renew your HGV licence your PSV will renew automatically mine did.

Correct
A D4 medical keeps all PCV & LGV categories current - you cannot just renew LGV and not PCV or vice-versa

Hi Rog… PCV is current at present (until mid July this year), just don’t feel I need to have the additional spend of a medical at this moment, and of course if I don’t drive for 5 years I will have another cost too. But, just worried I will loss my PCV. So the no time limit, if I of course I pass my medical I can renew my PCV at any time?

Yes you can renew at any time. No time limit. Just pass the medical but be aware it may not be a quick process knowing the DVLA

I was in the same position of holding a psv that i’d not used for twenty years.
Just renew, both licences are covered by the same medical and application, don’t panic

The medical you have for your HGV also counts for your PSV so no extra costs unless you don’t renew together then you may have to pay for a separate medical .

why do you all keep telling him that his medical for his LGV also covers him for buses/coaches?
where does he state that he holds or has ever held a LGV licence?
seems to me he is only asking about buses/coaches

If current D4 medical is valid until mid July and you change photo without having a licence issued after October 2012 then you WILL get another free 5 years for the D4 from that date of issue with the photo renewal

Makes no difference as they always run together whether he has one sort or both

Hi All…

Thank you all for the advice, I can now not worry about my PCV.

Warmest regards, and drive safe.
Andy.
