Licence Image Update/DQC Image Update?

My Licence renewal and image update is due at the end of the month. My DQC will still have the old image on it and is not due for renewal for another four years. Can the DQC be sent off along with the driving licence to have the images updated at the same time, or is there a separate process for this? Also is there a fee for either of the image updates? Thanks.

As far as I’m aware you do not need to update the DQC photo when your licence photo is updated, the fact that the two cards will have different photos isn’t a problem.

Your DQC photo will be updated the next time the card is renewed.

Thanks for that, do you know if there are any fees for image renewal?

According to the .gov website the cost for updating the photo is £14 online or £17 by post.

Driving licence fees

Change the photo on your driving licence online.

  • You can apply online with the DVLA if you have a valid UK passport and want to use your passport photo.
  • You cannot apply online if your name or title has changed or if you have a 5-year bus or lorry licence.

i think the mandatory 5 year renewal is free

there’s only a cost if you want to update the photo for your own reasons
