Seems they do not accept photo copies …
So if you want to renew fill in the lost licence form … if all goes well not a problem
But if you get license back with entitlements missing … you then DRIVE to swansea with the original in hand …
How can you take the original to swansea when you have to send it off in the first place for the changes to be done?
You apply for and receive a duplicate licence before sending the original to the DVLA, if the original comes back incorrect you still have a valid licence.
From what I understand from a police friend of mine, the DVLA computer
records only go back as far as 1975. They no records prior to then.
He found this out when his licence came back with no motorcycle entitlement
after having his address updated. The DVLA reponse was he would have to sit
a bike test to regain them.
At my old company, so many drivers used to complain about having to have their licence copied every year for HR records. Seems like a good idea to me - independent proof from your employer if it goes Pete Tongue
